The prospects for St Ursula's have been at the centre of complex negotations for some time.
Things are now coming to a head with positive support coming from the Dept of Education and Bristol Free School for schooling on the site covering primary and secondary phases for both new and existing pupils.
The final hurdle is to get support from Bristol City Council. BCC's current position is to seek to defer any decisions til after the local elections in May - by which time it will be too late for anything to be put in place for the new school year in September.
This is a real opportunity for Bristol to get a significant injection of funding from central government, for the community supporting Bristol Free School trust to get the school they have been campaigning for for so many years and for the existing pupils to continue their education at the school.
But, without support from BCC this will be a huge wasted opportunity.
Councillors and MPs will be attending an open meeting at the school this Friday to address this. Please do come along if you can and make your voice heard.
This will be followed up by a public meeting at the council house on 6th April at 6:30pm.
If you can't make either of these meetings but still want to have your say please email Barbara Janke, Lib Dem councillors, and your local councillor. (see the Contact / Contacting your councillor section on the Bristol City Council website) or sign the epetition at save2011.epetitions.net/
Please don't let this once only opportunity slip away.
