Hi

I'm 7 months pregnant and have been told I should start looking at child care options for when I go back to work, yikes. Does anyone know how far in advance you need to put your name down for nursery places? Any recommendations of nurseries or childminders in the Chorlton area?

the Family Information Service can send you a list, either contact them online (via the Manchester City Council website) or give them a ring on Monday. They are very helpful and the list is pretty well up to date in my experience.

I'm fairly near Chorlton and my little girl goes to Bright Horizons nursery on Stretford road, Old Trafford. Really happy with it - nice bright, purpose-built building, friendly staff etc. We got her in at quite short notice but this was 18 months ago when it was a fairly new nursery and I am pretty sure you need to get your name down quite a few months in advance now. Saying that, I think it depends on how many sessions you want etc.

Thanks for your help. Bright Horizons, might be a good option as its very close to my work, thanks for the tip!

Wish I'd spotted that nursery, would have been handy location for me too - but we weren't sure where we'd be moving to, so I plumped for oaklands day nursery on wilbraham road. All good so far (4yr old dd just finished settling-in period). Staff all seem lovely. Always good to put your name down at a few places, from my experience of the return-to-work days!
