As of Sunday I'll be living in Stamford Hill and wondering what kind of fun stuff I can do with my 7-month-old DS.

I know pretty much nobody in the area. Please do not bite. Hard.

Quite fancy taking the DS to a Spanish/music group of some sort - anyone know of one?

And swimming. I might brave swimming.

GP recommendations also very welcome.

And any tips at all on the area, really.

Welcome to N16 - am in Stoke Newington and although my two are older 6 and 3 have lived here for 7 years and plenty of baby groups etc.
Clissold leisure centre has a nice small pool

Baby and Toddler group on Thurs mornings on defoe road off church street

GP - think you might be too far - but Stratham Grove is fab

Hope that helps

Oh brilliant, both of you, thank you! Only just got broadband hence the delay in getting back. After two weeks of going round and round and round and round Springfield Park/down to Church street and to Sainsbury's, I'm in desperate need of some diversion. (As is the DS!)

Holly, I'll come along to a taster for sure. Looks brilliant. I must add: you have very nice hair indeed.

Excellent! And thank you! I'll be at the Tea Rooms on Church St 10am on Wed 23rd March - and every wednesday from then. Looking forward to meeting you!

I just started swim lessons in Tottenham Green Leisure centre (just up the road from Stamford Hill) and they are great. Newly started so easy to get on (unlike Clissold) and the pool is much warmer..

Hello, I don't live in N16 anymore but we lived on Manor Road and thought i'd add a couple of things
-have you found the 'secret park'? (Allen Gardens on Bethune Road) v quiet and sweet, Growing Communities have an allotment there, you can go and look/help. Tues pm i think.
-Thomas Abney nice school. Grasshoppers playgroup based there- from 2.5yrs. Lovely small caring group- and cheap.
-Stamford Hill library and the Childrens centres up there have lots of events. Friendly, free toddler groups.

i miss Stokey, it was great.

Hi Mothigail, I'm moving to stokey when our housesale goes through (hopefully in the next month or so). I have ds age 4 and ds age 8 months so will watching out for the interesting suggestions!

The children's cafe on the corner of newington green (possibly a bit far from you??) holds quite a few classes (If you google 'that place on the corner' i think that's what it is called). Attempting to get ds2 into nursery for my return to work but proving a nightmare!

Thank you all so much. Lots to get stuck into here!

Adair - I read your post approximately one hour after my husband texted me to tell me he had found some amazing little secret park - Allen Gardens. So that gets two solid votes.

I am scared of taking the ds swimming but when I get my act together I'll try all of the above.

Thanks again! And no doubt see some of you around...
