Cheeky, but thought it was worth an ask!! Grin

My friends and I are doing a fundraiser for the Neurosciences Foundation based at Glasgow?s Southern General Hospital.

We are asking local businesses for donations for prizes (big or small) so wondered if anyone would be willing to offer us anything. The fundraiser is on the 19th of March.

This is the charity website here our event isn't on their events page yet, but it should be in the next day of so!

Also if you have any ideas of where would be good to contact for help/donations please let me know, we hope to raise as much as possible! Thanks Smile

Aims what are you looking for? I've a bottle of whiskey in the cupboard that no one wants, it just a blend but if you want it you can have it...

Let me know and I can drop it off Smile

Hi Aimsmum: long time no see :)

What's your involvement with the Neurosciences Foundation?

I'm interested 'cos the rare dementia that my mum is suffering from is almost probably the result of her head injury :( - but we know so littel about the brain. Latest thinking is apparently that it is the "healing process" doesn't always stop in the brain after a brain injury, so what was a healing process becomes a damaging one :( Dad says that the guy he was talking to says that they think that there may be a way to tell the brain to stop healing damaging - but it will be too late for my mum as the damage is now done :(

i have a bottle of champers in the cupboard in a gift bag if any use? x

suzikettles · 11/02/2011 20:14

What about somewhere like the Harlequin Group? They probably do gift vouchers for their restaurants for this sort of thing.

A friend did a lot of fundraising a couple of years ago for Yorkhill and he approached local pubs & restaurants and also places like Partick Thistle/Rangers/Celtic Glasgow Warriors Rugby/Glasgow Hawks Rugby for tickets & merchandise to raffle.

Thanks all for your replies! Smile

Prettybird, hello, I have been around now and again under a different name, but changed back for the oldies thread, good to see you. Really sorry to hear about your mum, that must be very hard for you. My friend was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year, and is being treated in the Southern General, and she will be going in soon to get it removed then get radiotherapy, she has 2 young kids so it will be quite hard going. She wants to raise money for the Neurosciences foundation, due to her treatment at the Southern...to give something back if you like.

Linda and mummy03 any donations would be greatly appreciated, thank you both so much, if you are sure you can spare them, I could meet/pick up from you both, thank you Smile

Suzi, I have approached the ashoka group (is that the same as harlequin?) and also the social animal group, most places at xscape, o2 academy and the theatres so far. Not had a lot of success so far to be honest, but it is still early days.

I have been told that you really need a contact to get anything from celtic/rangers, not sure if this is true, but we are going to give them a go anyway, I actually forgot all about PT, so will try them too, also didn't think about the Rugby, so that's a great idea, thanks.

Anymore ideas gratefully received and thanks so much everyone so far Smile
