Urgent: Bone Marrow donors needed in Oxfordshire for 15month old baby girl

DD1's school has asked us to help spread the word about the seriously ill baby of one of their teachers.

15 month old Amber Phillpot is in serious need of a bone marrow transplant and they are trying to get more people from Oxfordshire (more chance of a match in your home county) to sign up to the Anthony Nolan register.

Doctors say a transplant is her only hope for a full recovery and her parents are urging people to sign up. To join, you need to fill in an online questionnaire and if you are eligible to donate, you will be sent a saliva test to determine your tissue type. It is that simple.

Signing up is very quick and straightforward. If you are between 16-40 and in good health you should be eligible.

Thanks

Heard about this over the weekend and have registered online. I hope a match is found for her.

Thanks MrsA, terribly sad

We're already registered and I am running a recruitment drive in my area. I hope she finds a match :)

That is great WMMC. I really hope she does too.

I have been in touch with a few local businesses to raise awareness about this. I hope they are seeing an increase in donors.

What are you doing for the recruitment drive. Can I help in anyway in South Oxon?

Thanks twofalls but we are in North Oxfordshire and it's all under control. :) Have secured publicity in the village newspaper and am leafleting the entire village.

I donated previously (many years ago) and got a lovely letter from the recipients family.

That sounds great. Really hope they see an increase in donors. Are you doing it in response to this case or something else? Well done anyway, I am sure there would be so many people willing to donate if they just stopped to think about it.

Have sent for an application pack.

I'm doing it because I only recent found out about the saliva test registration and it's so much easier, people have very little reason NOT to register now. :)
