Things to do on Thursdays in Chapel Allerton and arround

With my wife going back to work just before Christmas I am going p/t to take over some of the childcare for our 4mth old daughter.

Does anyone have suggestions of parent and baby groups or activities to take part on a Thursday in Chapel Allerton, Meanwood, Headingley, Chapeltown, Moortown, etc?

Particularly interested in swimming or stay and play/ playgroups.

Really not too intimidated about joining the world of "mother" and baby groups, but would love to find groups that have had other dads attend before.Smile

Hi SimpleSi,
The Oakwood NCT Bumps, Babies and Beyond meets on a Thursday morning usually (local NCT contact is Andrea Vero).

Let me know if you discover any other regular groups because Thursday is my usual day off looking after my 21 month old (and second baby due early April).

Thanks for the tip. Sounds and excellent start.

Will let you knwo what else I find. It's frustrating, I thought in the world of Google, etc I thought it would be easy to find groups and activities. I guess word of mouth is the way to go. Any other other tips from people?

Chapel Allerton library has a reading group for babies and toddlers from 10.30 to just after 11am. It's followed by a colouring in activity related to the story. Free too.

Choto Moni Centre, In Chapeltown does free baby signing on a Thursday from 10am. Nice friendly group.

Oh yes and there is the Sure Start play and stay at the Chapel Allerton Children's Centre - behind Lidl. Just ring them up and book. They're also good for letting you know of other activities in the area.

Hi, my partner is in the same boat (and DS is about the same age as yours) so I wondered if you'd found anything Dad friendly?!
Cheers

thursday is the one gap in our busy schedule of toddler groups so I can't help you I'm afraid, although there used to be a mini-movers (or was it stay and play?) group at Stainbeck church on a Thursday morning.

It's run by Scothall Children's centre though, so they may be a good place to start.

There's also baby swimming at Scotthall, with most classes on Thursdays, and they also do Jungle Gym-minis there too on various days.

Carr Manor children's centre is good too, but they don't have anything on a Thursday at the minute. Their programme changes all the time though so worth checking with them what's happening. Their Friday Stay and Play is a good friendly group with a few regular Dads too.
