Hi everyone!

I'm new to the area, moved to Colchester only last weekend, and am keen to meet up with new mums or mums-to-be in the area.

We're expecting our first babies (yes twins) in February next year, nervously excited, can't wait!! Just wondering if anyone was interested in meeting up for chats/coffee/support???

I'm 33 and live in Myland.

Hoping to hear from you, Tx

Hi Tabbycat,

I saw your thread and had to reply as it seems we have a bit in common!

I'm currently split between London and Colchester/West Bergholt. My fiance works in London but we normally spend weekends in Essex. Although all that is about to change as we too are expecting in Feb 2010; not entirely sure about the due date as it keeps changing with each scan but somewhere between the 22nd-14th!

We're going to be moving down to Colchester full time as of November but I like you, know absolutely nobody, as I've lived in London most of my life! The idea of being in a new area without friends and with a baby on the way is a little daunting lol....

Congratulations on your twins! Do you know what you're having? We're expecting our second little boy! Tristan will be 3 in March and i'm sure he'll love being a big brother.

Hope to hear from you,

Jamila

Hey Jamilla - thanks for replying! It would seem we have MORE in common - the reason for our move was mainly down to my husband also working in London, so the commute for him has been shortened which is lovely because it means we get a bit more of the evenings together now (we moved from Ipswich, so not far but far enough to make a difference to his commute).

Although I was apprehensive of the move initially, I'm glad to say that people seem very friendly and welcoming. It's going to take time to make a new network of friends but we'll get there! :)

So you're due Feb too, and you're moving November!!? Wow, you're brave. You'll be a shade bigger by then and if your fiance is anything like my husband, you won't be lifting a finger to help!!!! Makes for a very slow move! But it'll be great to have someone to meet up with so let me know when you're here and we'll arrange something. Will you be in West Bergholt? We were looking at houses near there but the one we originally wanted fell through so now we're in Myland and very happy.

We don't know yet what we're having. We have our 20 week scan next week but we're hoping to go the duration of our pregnancy with not knowing and have a surprise at the end. Twins have more scans so it could be out of our control!

Anyway, lovely to hear from you, keep in touch and hopefully others will in time join our thread and make for a bigger network!! Whoop! :)

Tx

Congratulations ladies. Glad the move went well Tabbycat (I got your PM by the way).

Perhaps we could organise drinks sometime, so that you dont get scared off by all our rowdy children (my rowdy brood alone is enough to scare anyone off Grin). Lets see if anyone else comes along over the next few days to comment.

Things have been quite quiet on here recently. The children are starting school, so we seem to meet up less and less, but that doesn't mean that those newbies and also those with younger ones as well as school children cannot meet up.

I am sure that the mention of alcohol without children in tow will bring a few people back Wink.

tabbycat76 · 29/09/2010 17:16

Er well hang on Mung - you're mentioning of alcohol just isn't fair!!!!!!!!! But I'll be def up for a social sometime! I'll just stick to the juice :( :( Let's try to sort something.

Maybe if your group are meeting less and less for the fact kids are getting older, maybe it's time for a new wave of socials in Colchester with babes! hehe! ;)

By the time yummymummy has relocated, there may be a new social network for her to just conveniently come along to! Fab!!

I'm pretty flexible so far as being the one with no kids yet, but do shift work so let me know what you're thinking and we'll hook up. Be good to meet ya! And whoever else wants to join us!!! Come out come out, wherever you are!!!

And then when the twins are born, oh let the alcohol flow......! hic hic!

Oh sorry Tabbycat...I didn't even think about that!
I think you're right about a new wave of people. There have been a few newbies on the local bit recently, so it would be good to actually manage to meet up, even if some of the old faces dont make it.

tabbycat76 · 30/09/2010 16:48

I'll leave it to you then to organise, since you're the one with the links?! I'll just turn up anywhere - christ folk won't miss us turning up! I wonder what a group of pregnant women are called... a gaggle?? Anyway, all would be welcome as you say so sounds good!

Hi everyone!
I agree that meeting up without the kids might be a good idea if you want to have a conversation. Especially for mums that have yet to practice the fun of chatting to grown-ups whilst simultaneously having a conversation with a toddler and trying to stop the baby pulling a cup of tea its head!!

Maybe we could pick a pub in the area of Myland or West Bergholt that is a nice environment for a glass of wine or a juice without being loud or scuzzy!

tabbycat76 · 03/10/2010 10:46

Whoohoo - another groupie! I'm certainly up for a pub meet - I've no idea which pubs might be nice to meet in in either Myland or West Bergholt but since I won't be able to drink anyway, I don't mind driving a distance. As for being loud and scuzzy lucyfer - haha, damn alcohol for not blending in perfect harmony with pregnancy - guess that kind of behaviour will just have to wait!!! ;)

Just name a date, location and time and I'll be there. Week days might be better....?!

Can you suggest anywhere Lucyfer?
I haven't perfected that art yet Lucyfer and I feel like I never will...I think I'll just have to wait for them to grow up a bit.

pooter · 05/10/2010 13:34

hi everyone - im up for a quiet drink! (only the one mind) I could pop along to wherever for an hour or two, but couldnt do more than that unfortunately. DD needs milk too often and DS is just a pita at night and DH is a tad useless.....This parenthood business is fantastic Hmm

I promise to lie be positive about it in the pub though!

tabbycat76 · 05/10/2010 16:53

Whohooooo - just awaiting a place and time then! Come on mung and lucyfer, all eyes on you two!!!! ;)
