From London to York, anyone fancy being my friend???

Hi All,
We are relocating in two weeks time from London to Bootham, DH is from Yorkshire orginally. We have a DD aged 1 and are expecting another next Feb. We don't really know anyone in York itself, we are moving there because I have always, always loved the place-and its close enough for DH's family in Wakefield. Well, it's closer than London anyway!
We are both self employed in the family business, so its sometimes a struggle to actually meet people in social circles.

If anyone is up for a meet-up, coffee anytime, or a shopping-fest...PLEASE let me know! Likewise if there's anything going on locally, me and DH are really keen to get involved and meet new people. London is such a funny place to get to know people properly, we're both itching to start a new friends base up north.

Hello Cazinski,

We are relocating to york in 2 weeks too!! My husband (dont know all the definitions) is originally from york and we are moving in with my inlaws as dont have a house yet. Its going to be interesting.

I dont know anyone, except for husbands family, and have a 2yr old daughter and 5 month old son. Im a stay at home mum so will definitely be up for meeting up - i think i may need to get out of the houseSmile

Hello :)

We moved to a village just to the east of York in June. DH and I met at university here so knew the area quite well although it is different having children compared with being a student Grin.

Bootham is a lovely part of the city to be in Cazinski - I am quite envious Smile.

My children are 6 and 4 (they start back at school on Monday and DD my younger one will start Reception) so I don't really know about things fir younger children but there are loads of children in York so I'm sure there are lots of things going on.

I will be coming to the meet-up - hopefully will meet you both then :)

Hey you two, thanks for replying! I've posted on the York meet up thread too, so hopefully we can all catch up there? I'm really looking forward to moving up to York now-we've been packing boxes today, so we're up to our eyeballs here. Our DD isn't helping much, she likes pulling everything out as soon as you pack it.

Roll on weekends at Grannys house!!!! (poor granny haha!)

Hope to see you guys soon, take care x

Oh and good luck with your move too Deadley. We've lived with the Outlaws before and I feel your pain. If you ever need something stronger than a coffee, just shout!!!

Hello Cazinsk,

boxes, boxes, everywhere, its chaos! Trying to decide what to take and what to store is impossible!!! Definitely looking forward to the live in babysitters, thinking positively here:o

Was looking at the other thread and a meet up in early October sounds cool.
Was wondering if you fancied meeting up the week of the 20th sept as im thinking i may want to get out sooner as well?!

If so, you should be able to get my email address off here to arrange something:)

Hi

We did the London to York move almost five years ago when DD1 was 6 weeks old.

I found the easiest way to meet people was via baby groups - you name it, we did it. Baby yoga, Kindermusik, baby signing... Also moving to one of the more family friendly areas helped too.

York is a great place for families. DD1 has just started school and DD2 is 6mo. You never have to look far to find somewhere to go or something to do.

Good luck!
