If you live in south Cambridge in the catchment areas for Abbey Meadows, Cherry Hinton, Colville, Fawcett, Morley Memorial, Newnham Croft, Park Street, Queen Edith, Ridgefield, Spinney, St Matthew's, St Paul's or St Philip's then this consultation about a new primary school could affect you and your children. Some of the issues are explained here.

Thanks Gunhilda! I hadn't heard about this, despite living close by and having a child due to enter primary in 2011. Now have written to council (to support non-sectarian option).

Other than a poor article in the local paper and whatever the bidders have done to raise awareness, little seems to have been done to publicise it. Tell your friends before the Council consultation closes on 20 Aug 2010!

Are they providing more capacity at secondary level too does anyone know?

Gunhilda · 07/08/2010 09:39

I don't think they've got that far in their planning. The driver for the expansion is an increased birthrate in the agegroup of children starting reception in 2011 onwards. When these children reach secondary level extra capacity will be needed there too.

The decision has been taken this morning that the new school will be run by the Queen Edith's Federation Group not the Catholic Diocese. The new school is due to open in September 2011 and will have a catchment covering the areas of the Morley, Ridgefield and Queen Edith's catchments. Parents in those areas will have the choice of the existing school or the new one.
