Has anyone working on TWP in CANADA, gone on maternity leave and claimed EI successfully?

Basically, we are working in Canada, paying all local taxes and insurances on a TWP. Have just got off the phone with HR and they've said I can't claim any maternity allowances through the Employment Insurance, even though we pay it (!), and the company does not step into the breech and provide anything for expat workers.

I asked them for a record of employment, so I could try to claim myself, which they refuse to give me as they don't give them to international workers apparently.

I'm not inclined to believe them in any of this as they have stuffed up so much previously. Just when we get some good news, they kick us again!

Has anyone had any experience and been able to successfully claim EI while on a TWP?

TIA

No idea, sorry, but try posting the same question on the British Expats Canada Forum as you'll get a much wider (relevant) audience.

Also see this thread as it seems very relevant.

Thanks for that LazyDog.

I phoned the Govt office and they've said I could too, so sick of our HR dept knowing nothing!
