Anyone else who lives here?

I moved to sweden 7 years ago. I met my husband who is swedish in germany on a schooltrip when I was 17 and as I liked sweden so much we decided to live here. A decision I have never regretted!!

I speak fluent swedish and have a good network of friends and inlaws. I do miss my english family loads though and the odd english food item.

I come over to the uk often and my family comes here lots too.

I have a DS three years 8 moths and a DD nearly 1. The system for maternity and paternity is so much better here and nursery cost max £100 a month from the age of 1. So i am still at home on maternity leave and will be for the rest of the year and my DH has mondays off as paternity leave so we have a 3 day weekend every week.

If anyone wants to chat about living abroad I am all ears!!

Not in Sweden, in Switzerland with German DH and our two DC. Are you new to MN?

susssiq · 06/03/2010 11:59

This can be your little fix of home. I'm not English, but I used to live there for a long time. I think MN is a little big of England for me...

MmeLindt · 06/03/2010 12:04

Welcome to MN.

Got to go, DH is home but will return later when I have time.

susssiq · 06/03/2010 12:11

Hello, I am in Provence.

Very of your maternity leave, it is rubbish in France. As for paternity leave, let's not even mention that or I might just choke on my envy.

Hi! I lived in Sweden for two years (for work) and moved back a year ago. Do you know the site www.mumsinsweden.com? It's for English-speaking mums out there - I used to post on it as well as mumsnet. Good for meeting like-minded local folks.

susssiq · 08/03/2010 15:11
