Moving to US - Legal issues

I am moving to Kansas City in two months with DH and out three DC. We have made a will each expressing our wishes about who they would live with in the event of our deaths (v cheery). However by Dad (ever the optimistic one) suggests there could be issues with the DC being taken into care and then someone arriving to bring them back to England and being refused. Does anyone have any advice on this or what we could do to cover all bases? Not being au fait with the finer points of family law in the US and UK I am at a loss! Thanks

Just a thought - I was told ages ago that a will in the UK may not be recognised in the US. I don't particularly know if this is true, but it might be a good idea to make a separate, yet identical will in the US soon after you get there, only adding provisions in the US will for who would be responsible for your children temporarily until your UK relatives could reach them. And then give a copy of that will to those in the US that are your "temporary care" for the kids.
