There seems to be a few of us here now . . . does anyone fancy a real life meet up? Or is it too wierd?

Whaddya think?

Ozzie do you know Isabella Oliva? Take a look here.

Also my mate suggests these places for baby stuff . . . "I would go to Baby Bunting at either Gepps Cross or Melrose Park . They weren?t around when I was looking but has the biggest range and very reasonable prices.
I bought half my gear from YCN and the other from Just Kidding as both places didn?t have everything I needed. YCN stocks Emmaljunga but I am not sure if other places do."

Thank you!

This is all fantastic, thank you so much.

tortoise - my reason for wanting a skirt isn't a problem with trousers per se - just that generally I look rubbish in them as I am pretty short, and they always make my bottom look large. On the other hand my legs are ok, so I tend to wear skirts with the idea of accentuating the positive....

I may have to go for trousers instead and just cope with feeling short and frumpy...

Thank you as well for the baby shop recommendations. Luckily I have plenty of time, so can go round to all these places. I have looked in Nature's Cradle before when I was looking for a pressie for a friend, and I love their stuff.

I"m planning on going for some pricier things if it really matters (like nappies and sling), but happy with cheaper things when the baby will grow quickly or I won't use for long.

I am excited about it all, but also wary of coming across with a big neon sign saying "first time mum who will spend spend spend on useless stuff" above my head.

But I do at least have the beginnings of a list of things I need (thanks to a panicked thread on here) and now a list of shops to buy things from.

I am also going to the baby expo in a few weeks so hopefully that will also give me some ideas (or confuse me further).

Ozziegirly · 16/02/2010 06:32

Sorry for highjacking this thread by the way!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 21/02/2010 22:52

Helloooo again, are you all still here??

Shall we try and lock in a date then?

So far it looks like the following are coming . .

Tortoiseonthehalfshell
Ozziegirly
ClaudiaSchiffer
Romalodownunder
Cousinit

Anyone I've forgotten??

So if we say the Parade on a Wednesday night in March - which is either the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th or 31st.

I can do any apart from the 31st - wedding anniversary so dh will doubtless be spoiling me (ha bloody ha).

OP posts:
ClaudiaSchiffer · 22/02/2010 06:42

Me again, dh is probably going out on the 3rd and I may have book group on the 17th.

So that leaves the 10th or the 24th, if that suits anyone?

OP posts:
Ozziegirly · 23/02/2010 02:17

10th or 24th is fine by me

Looking forward to it!

RomaloDownUnder · 23/02/2010 05:25

24th is better for me please.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 24/02/2010 04:29

Excellent, lets go for the 24th then.

Oi Tortoise and Cousinit - are you still up fer it?

OP posts:
tortoiseonthehalfshell · 24/02/2010 04:44

24th sounds fine to me, I'll have to check with the babysitter husband but shouldn't be an issue. He owes me, anyway, after being away for an entire week when my daughter is sick and not sleeping and I'm still getting to work on time.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 24/02/2010 05:24

Coolio - Anyone got any ideas for venue? The only place I can put a name to on The Parade is The Bath Arms . . . which does do quite nice food if we want to eat? Or there are heaps of good cafes etc, I just can't actually name any.

OP posts:
ClaudiaSchiffer · 24/02/2010 05:31

Sorry to hear about sick dd Tortoise, hope she's better now.

Differentnameforthis are you still about? D'you wanna come? More the merrier

OP posts:
RomaloDownUnder · 24/02/2010 05:50

There is Gusto which is maybe a bit pricey but very nice, lots of Italian places like Caffe Buongiorno & Cafe Bravo. In fact have just found the full list here

RomaloDownUnder · 24/02/2010 05:57

Actually I think Cafe Palazzo might be best as it is casual and not too fussy and everyone can just have what they want without feeling like they need to have formal dinner. It's on the corner of the Parade and Osmond Terr and is always lively and interesting. What do you think?

ClaudiaSchiffer · 24/02/2010 09:18

Great idea Romalo

24th at Cafe Palazzo it is. Shall we say 8pm?

And how about wigs? Or hats? Or maybe we wear an identifying flower - Gladioli?

OP posts:
Ozziegirly · 24/02/2010 21:59

Sounds perfect to me, 24th, Cafe Palazzo - I can do any time.

We need a secret code word. It'll be like Spooks. Only with less killing (fingers' crossed).

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 24/02/2010 23:21

Sounds fine to me, but could we do earlier? Claudia, are you trying to come after your kids are in bed? I was thinking of an after-work thing, is all: it's a trek for me to go home and then go out again. But I will be swayed by the majority.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 25/02/2010 02:08

Yup, I was thinking of getting the kiddies to bed and then legging it. But happy to make dh get the girls settled (if he's home from work on time of course). What time were you thinking Tortoise?

OP posts:
tortoiseonthehalfshell · 25/02/2010 02:42

I think I was presuming more like 6, but 7 is fine if your husband doesn't get home before then. It's just I go to bed 9.30/10pm , and I'd assumed I'd come straight from work.

RomaloDownUnder · 25/02/2010 05:16

how many are we then? Shall I book a table and then we'll have a point to assemble? I could book it under a secret password (or is that taking the spooks theme a little too far...!?).

Just need to agree on a time, anything after 6 is good for me.

Cousinit · 25/02/2010 05:16

Hi all, yes, definitely still up for coming along. Cafe Palazzo sounds perfect. 24th should be fine with me as long as dh is home on time. His hours can be a bit unpredictable so I'll have to play it by ear but if I can be there, I will.

Cousinit · 25/02/2010 05:22

After 6 should be okay with me but the later we meet the greater chance I have of making it. Happy to go along with what's best for everyone else though.

Ozziegirly · 25/02/2010 05:26

Any time fine by me.

sandcastles · 02/03/2010 06:11

Tis 'different' here. I won't be able to come along...haven't posted as we got a short notice call a few days after posting.

We are expecting some overseas visitors the week before, who have limited time here, so will have to pass this time!

Have a great time, and I will be at the next one!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 04/03/2010 02:26

Hellooooooooooooo again

Right . . . a quick re-cap . . . we have 24th March, Cafe Palazzo.

Tortoise I've gotta say I'm gonna struggle to get there for 6. Can we compromise on 7 or does it stuff it up for you?

I'm more than happy to pick you up and bring you down to Norwood if that makes things easier for you at home?

Or am happy to roll up a bit later than the rest of you, so can book the table for 6 and I'll just show up when I can (the minute dh returns from work I'm outa here ).

OP posts:
tortoiseonthehalfshell · 04/03/2010 02:48

7 is fine. Sounds like you're not the only one who would atruggle for 6, and I have no problems at all with 7 - it was just 8 was pushing it, really.
