We are thinking of going to either Italy or France for 6 months to see what lifes like. My DP is actually Italian (came to UK when a child) and can speak the language, Im learning. He's a plumber, does anyone know if there is demand for plumbers in either country, would like south of france or north of italy, any info on either regions would be greatly appreciated!

i lived in Sardinia for 6 months whilst studying the language and travelled all over Italy many years ago, but still visit for holidays.

i also lived in France (Nancy) for 6 months.

I adore Italy - the countryside/cities/culture/locals and the language is easier than French.

I've been to Veneto area a few times now - obviously Venice is gorgeous, but you've also got the Dolomites (Italian alps) which are amazing. Then there's all the other northern cities - each well worth visiting and probably cool to live near.

Not visited Southern France, but got relatives in Monaco - too expensive?!

No idea about economy/plumber needs in either country, but surely would be easier for DH in a country he's more at home with the language?

there's a few of the others on the Little Italy thread who live in Northern Italy so should be able to help with info for there.

I lived and know Northern Italy v well if you need advice there. It's great and though I am biased, far better than France.

I live in France, brother lives in Italy, lots of demand for plumbers in France. Toss up as to who has the worst president.
