Hello all!

I'm planning a move to Seattle in April or May, and was wondering if there are any Mumsnetters who would be kind enough to give me a few pointers about general life there?

I'd be interested to hear anything you could think of really - good (and bad!) places to live, what shopping is like (is food expensive?), good banks, places to visit etc. The move is daunting - it seems a lot closer this side of Christmas!! - and I would really feel calmer if I could talk to someone with knowledge of the area.

Thanks in advance !

I know it's wonderful to visit but I don't have a lot of practical advice. dooneygirl is in Oregon. She may know more.

We just went for a visit over Xmas, so don't know much, but we found it a lovely place. Very picturesque, not too big. We had some fantastic meals out, around $120 for a dinner with drinks for 2. Looked to be very good shopping and pike street market had the fresh produce and seafood. There is an outlet mall about 30 mins from the city as well, looked tone good deals in coach, there was a massive queue and everyone leaving had bags overflowing, sad I didn't bother to join them now!

To visit, the aquarium which was ok and the space needle. There is an art gallery Downtown called SAM and really worthwhile was the Boeing factory about 40 mins north of the city. Kids need to be over 4 feet to visit the actual factory bit, otherwise there is a gallery with a few bits to see. I think the website is www.Futureofflight.Com

thanks for replying jabberwocky and JeMeSouviens! That website looks great JeMe, I will definitely check it out. Can you remember what region the outlet mall was in?
