Does anyone know of a nusery in Overijse / Tervuren, Brussels for my 2.5yr old dd? Something part-time & pref not every day?
I have looked at the Montessori in Tervuren, but 5 mornings & rather pricey (though I am sure it is worth it my husband's new employer does not fund nursery at this age). Kindercrib at BSB is full, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In previous post, Catholic schools less than 7km :

Communal schools less than 7km :

1 Centre scolaire du Blankedelle Avenue Jean Van Horenbeeck 33 , 1160 AUDERGHEM 5,042 km

2 Ecole communale La Sapinière Chaussée de La Hulpe 346 , 1170 WATERMAEL-BOITSFORT 5,31 km

3 Ecole communale Joli-Bois Val des Epinettes, 1150 WOLUWE-SAINT-PIERRE 5,505 km

4 Ecole communale du Karrenberg Rue François Ruytinx 31 , 1170 WATERMAEL-BOITSFORT 6,001 km

5 Centre scolaire du Pré des Agneaux Place Edouard Pinoy 20 , 1160 AUDERGHEM 6,008 km

6 Ecole communale Les Colibris/ La Roseraie Rue des Combattants 112 , 1310 LA HULPE 6,132 km

7 Centre scolaire du Souverain Rue Robert Willame 25 , 1160 AUDERGHEM 6,303 km

8 Ecole communale de Stockel Rue Henri Vandermaelen 61 , 1150 WOLUWE-SAINT-PIERRE 6,805 km
9 Ecole communale Rue de La Hulpe 19 , 1331 RIXENSART 6,935 km 662 1174
10 Ecole fondamentale La Futaie / Les Coccinelles Avenue des Coccinelles 65 , 1170 WATERMAEL-BOITSFORT 6,949 km

Another 2 maternelles only in Watermael-Boitsfort called Les Naides and Le Colibri are around 6km away, plus a 3rd maternelle only not on the list is an annexe of du Karrenberg also about 6km away. These 3 maternelles are not on this list as it's a primary school search website which calculates the distances from a given point and as these are maternelles only, they are not included.

Direct Funded French schools less than 7km :

1 Athénée Royal Crommelynck - Woluwé-Saint-Pierre Avenue Orban 73 , 1150 WOLUWE-SAINT-PIERRE 6,202 km

2 Athénée Royal Auderghem Avenue du Parc de Woluwe 25 , 1160 AUDERGHEM 6,415 km

That is 25 French maternelles within a 7km radius, quite a choice, but the nearest is 5km away, it would really depend on which direction you are most likely to drive as none are easily accessible by public transport, some are easier drives than others.

Well I shall disappear now, sorry about the long lists....

Please avoid the drive into Brussels from Overijse. I live backing on to the E411 in Auderghem and get the metro every day at a stop that is above the motorway slip road. The queues in the morning stretch back as far as the eye can see and well beyond. It's not much better coming in from Tervuren.

Longtime is right, unless you really like sitting in traffic jams, the E411 into central Brussels from Jezus-Eik/Overijse is car to car once you pass inside the R0. But the edge of Auderghem (one of the 19 Brussels communes) is just inside the R0, to the edge of Auderghem, the drive would not be so bad. The drive to Woluwe St Pierre/Stockel (another Brussels commune) would be heavy traffic on the E411 then R0, but it still should be doable in around 30 minutes, one of my bet friends does it in that time every day from where you are living. The drive to La Hulpe would be the lightest for traffic, perhaps 15 minutes, but it is in completely the opposite direction to BSB. All of these routes have buses as alternatives to using the car.

But if it's just a kindergarten you are after, the Dutch speaking ones would be a great choice, your child would make friends around where you live and it opens up lots of after school activities in your own neighbourhood. Local schools usually have free or very low cost child care from 7.30am in the morning, so it is possible to walk to a local Dutch school, drop off the youngest, then either put the elder children on the school bus or drive to BSB, or alternatively, often the younger children in local school do not need to be there until 9am, you can drop off later at the local Dutch school.

I know lots of children in local Dutch kindergartens whose elder siblings are at BSB.

plus Dutch is an easier language to learn than French :)
