Silly roundabout way of doing it!

I have recipe (in English) for Salt Pork in Lentils (Petit Sale aux Lentilles) and just wondered what the following are in French: salt pork belly and salt pork knuckle so I can ask my butcher...

I would tell the butcher what you are making and what weight of meat your require and leave it up to him.

just say " il me faudrait de la viande pour un petit sale au lentilles"
salt pork knuckle = petit sale
salt pork belly= poitrine salee
just on top of my head

Thank you - I made it Saturday and managed to get what I need. It passed DH's muster so job done.
