child care on the upper west side New York - Help

Hi all, we are moving to New York with our two kids, 18mths and nearly 4. Can't seem to find day care for them, every pre school I've called is full, are there other alternatives out here? Would be really grateful for some help and advice. thanks v. much...

A nanny? A babysitter? Sorry to be so late to this, just joined mn. The upper west side has both Columbia and Barnard (womens' college of Columbia) as well as at least one teacher training college whose name I've forgotten. Maybe a student there would be available for part time help, or if you need full time there are tons of agencies.
