Question for those living in France

We're thinking of driving back to UK from France on 1 July - is this madness as it's when French hols begin?

Just wondered if I shouldn't book return EuroTunnel trip for 2 July.

I don't think it'll be a problem. School holidays start that day but people tend to take Sat to Sat off work so it's the weekends that are a nightmare on the roads.
Also, you'll be heading north and most French people will be heading south at the beginning of the holidays.
