Anyone there at the moment or know the place and can tell me how great it is??? I have had a look on the net (pretty small town, beaches, blah, blah, blah)but need advice from someone who´s been there

My DP has been offered a job there, we are in our mid 30´s, no DCs so no worries about schools or houses (happy to rent at the mo)

My DP is aussie so not much trouble with VISA (would have to apply for spousal visa).

FWIW we are in southern Spain now, before that in London for 6 years (love London.. Spain.. not so much)

Any advice and comments much appreciated...

ummm i have a fiend who grew up in coffs and ive only been once so limited knowledge hope someone can help more. Lots of bannanas! and a fairly poor socio economic area. not much happens in coffs. ( excepts toursits passing through to see the big bannana!) most people pass through coffs driving between sydney and brisbane. There is a shopping mall with most the noraml suspects but not a biggy. It is a long way from anywhere and i have no idea about schools that way! I did think it was very pretty tho, geographically, not the town itself? nice rolling hills and very green. beaches are lovely but tbh they are great all over aus!It may be ok but as young free singles why not head to brisbane? or where dh has family?

Think Home & Away. Seriously, I am pretty sure the writers had Coffs in mind when they sat down to pitch the show.

I thinnk the exact summary you would get from a lifelong resident would be "pretty small town, beaches, blah blah blah"

I'd advise you to get started on the spousal visa sooner rather than later - it took a couple of months for my DH's to come through.

Haveen't been to Coffs for a while but very chilled out place. Few retirees are hippies but not a bustling kind of place. Not somewhere I would choose to live. Its like Chloe said. Mainly farmers who have never left the area.
If you want to go to the city try Brisbane or Ipswich or move out west where they are desperate for people.
Perhaps Coolongatta or Tweed Heads if you want a costal lifestyle. If you want more country beach hippy try anywhere near Byron.

I grew up not far from Coffs Harbour and would second what LouIAHLV says. It is a regional centre for NSW, but still a country town by London standards.

Good for beach, outdoor lifestyle, sporting activities.

Not good for culture, diveristy of population, shopping, feeling connected to the rest of the world.

What part of Oz is your partner from and have you visited before? If you have been to Oz and anywhere outside of Sydney or Melbourne you will know there is quite a difference in the pace of life.

If you loved London for it's diversity, culture, nightlife and the range of activities on offer, then I suspect Coffs will seem like another planet
