i know & we're flying to the uk on may 25th, so she won't see school people for months!!
there's a big change round of classes between k & 1st grade so it will all seem so new to her all over again!! still, i have a cunning plan...

SuperBunny · 11/04/2009 04:30

Cunning plan? Sounds interesting

OP posts:
kickassangel · 11/04/2009 04:31

woo hoo
i just made it onto the 'high score' list for a mind jolt game on face book for the WHOLE of facebook!
how clever am i? do i get a meadl or summink?

kickassangel · 11/04/2009 04:34

cunning plan = be on holdiay for dd's bday & do something amazing, then try to have a small gathering at our house a week or two later.

my high score is just for this week! i am the 37th best at a crappy fb game so far this week. oh the glory

dooneygirl · 11/04/2009 04:46

Congratulations on being 37th best at a crappy fb game so far this week.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cunning plan is to head down to Southern Oregon to be with family and old friends, since the IL's new house actually has air conditioning. Colin has always been happy with just going to the fair, which always happens on or within a day or two of his birthday, and not only is there family and friends, but a fair down there as well. I'll just have to make it through part of a 100 degree day. I so do not miss summers down there.

nooka · 11/04/2009 05:01

Birthdays are tough aren't they. dd is an early September baby, and so her birthdays have always been tricky. Plus she gets so excited in advance about anyone's birthday, so anticlimaxes are all too easy. ds will be 10 in a month, so we'll have to think of something special for that. Trouble is he is finding making friends quite tricky still.

cali, when i was a student in NYstate, i found the catholics the closest to any c of e church i knew.

i wouldn't dare be in the UK for dd's bday. not only would we barely make it back for the start of term, but also, PIL are not close to my parents, so we'd have to chose which set of family to be with, and I just coudn't cope with that stress. MIL has a bizarre & highly developed 'counting' system for Christmases. Even though she ignored dd until about 2 years ago, she would never fogive us if we spent dd's bday at my parents or sisters.

SuperBunny · 11/04/2009 20:01

I hadn't even considered the problem of a summer birthday.

I agree that Catholic churches here seem not too far removed from C of E ones. But you have to get over all the stand up, sit down, shake hands, do this, do that thing which I don't much like.

And yes, it was lovely having my mum here, thanks. There was an incident where I turned into a psychobitch but have apologised.

My father (an accountant) says five years for all financial records.

kickassangel · 12/04/2009 02:07

dh has to show all financial stuff to inland revenue for the years 2002 - 2008 to get back the tax he overpaid in 2008!
so at least 5 years sb
we have ALL our pay slips from forever. we keep getting hit with back dated tax returns

SuperBunny · 12/04/2009 02:23

Oh no, this is not what I wanted to hear. But thanks

Okay so jumping in a "wee bit" early to say - HAPPY, HOPPY EASTER, to one and all. I hope the Easter Bunny was generous to everyone, the egg hunts were awesome and everyone over-indulged in choccie. We have a great combo here of Dove choccie and good old fashioned Brit Cadburys - scrummy thanks to my Mum.

nooka · 12/04/2009 06:07

I completely failed to find any big eggs The kids will be very cross. In the UK they would be all over the place, but I didn't see any big ones around at all and the lady at the Supermarket told me they had sold out. I did get lots of little ones though, which to be honest I prefer - lots of hunts will be had

SuperBunny · 12/04/2009 16:12

I forgot it is Easter today. I was invited to my friend's house for dinner but since it was going to be full of children and I don't have DS I declined but I am now wishing I had said yes because I am faced with a whole day alone

Big eggs don't seeem to feature much here. We have 3 small ones from my family and lots of mini eggs.

Hello Chefswife

hi chefswife.
yeah, it seems to only be the proper choc shops that do big eggs, for $$$$.
dd had 2 egg hunts this week, and then she has had some toys & bits from family, so had stuff to open, but no too much choc.
dh & i just opened a big bag of reeses mini cups, then scoffed the lot fri night!! i think i need to use the wii fit A LOT to make up for that.

my PIL are 'online' on skype, but not contacting me. d'you think they're expecting me to press the magic button? or just busy doing other things & not really sitting there waiting for us.
