Upcoming Queensland Election

So I have been a tad slack with my current affairs of late and have only just found out that an election has been called. I used to be a hard core member of a certain political party but left and have ignored politics to a degree since moving to the UK. I have no idea about anyones policies and need a rough idea about who sucks at the moment. I do know that my genius idea to register at my parents address has now backfired and has given me the candidates of Warrick Capper and Pauline Hanson.

That it soo funny!! sorry not really funny.

esselle · 04/03/2009 03:32

I have seen these 2 candidates on the news and tbh you'd be best staying in the UK!

When is Pauline going to give it up???

Warrick Capper???? Can he even read a ballot paper??

I'd be ticking the "none of the above" box.

Christ, talk about the devil and the deep blue sea!

They're just cringeworthy, both of them (her more than him, really - he just seems to be a harmless buffoon). You must know that the rest of Australia is sitting there with its arms folded going uh huh, what did we always tell you about Queensland?

mm22bys · 04/03/2009 08:35

Except for the countless thousands who "emigrate" to Queensland each year from the southern states, hey?....

Maybe it's what they say about Kiwis who emigrate to Australia - raising the IQ of both places :-)

mm22bys · 04/03/2009 08:36

A very good friend of ours is from Melbourne. He calls DH, a Kiwi who was raised in Qld, a banana bender, and we call him a Mexican....

All good fun....

I just heard that Warrick Capper forgot to register his nomination time so that leaves me with Pauline and some bloke from the LNP. When did it become the LNP? Sounds like the BNP. Maybe those guys from the Beer and Fishing party from 2004 will run again.....

ninedragons I thought that was Tasmania

LouIsAHappyLittleVegemite · 04/03/2009 11:14

ahhhhh hahahahahahahah
Tasmanians vs Queenslanders again
inbreds vs the country bumpkins
joh has a lot to answer for

on a side note, when Joh was visiting Charleville (where we were living when I was little) to open the preschool I was the token baby for the press photos and I did a wee on him. I knew I had a mission in life!

that is too funny!

mm22bys · 04/03/2009 12:46

Good on you Lou!

ninedragons · 04/03/2009 13:20

That is a very impressive claim to fame.

My only infant claim to fame is that Kerry Packer tried to buy me from my Dad.

LouIsAHappyLittleVegemite · 04/03/2009 17:11

What did he try and buy you for? A spare kidney?

Ha! No, apparently he just thought I was cute.

My parents were at an auction with me in a Moses basket and he turned around and asked my Dad "how much for the kid?"

had an interesting chat with the LNP candidate for our area this morning. I then went across to speak with the Labour candidate's rep who was also on the side of the road and within one sentence he put me off entirely. He accused me of playing a game - cause he obviously saw me speaking with the LNP people. I was very impressed that the LNP man (I was originally speaking with his wife) came along to speak specifically with me - I was the only person there.

The Labor guy had no info - could not speak to the policies or what his candidate would think of issues that were very important to us as a family. It took all his effort to get off his butt and walk about 10 metres to his car to get me some info so I could call or email that candidate. He then said I could go to her office and speak with her if I felt like it.
He did her a real disservice.
