I just want to send my thoughts to all the Australian (and others) who are in North Queensland and Victoria. I hope that you, your family and friends are all safe and she wishes she was back home in her orange SES overalls overalls helping.

hi Lou. I have just this minute received an e mail from my sister who is in Melbourne, about 15 miles south of the bush fires. She said that today should only reach 21. The winds are also not as strong but are yet to calm completely. No rain is forecast though. Her husband has been out soaking their house and the surrounding land as a precaution (they back on to some reserve land). Apparently in their town they have all been going to the local community centre and donating bedding, clothes and food to help those poor people who have lost so much. And i'm sure other towns are doing the same.

I am absolutely shocked by what has happened. I've seen horrible things but this has made me cry. It takes a lot for that to happen. I haven't lost anyone (that I know of) thankfully in Victoria but know people who has lost everything in Nth Qld. Kevin Rudd, who normally can't shut up was lost for words in an interview today. I do hope they catch the arsonists and charge them with murder. It's the least they can do.

unfortunately the flooding is spreading and more and more areas are being affected.

I have family in Victoria who were close to the fires. My cousins husband sent her and their baby out and was going to stay and fight until he walked out on their verandah and watched a hill near him explode into fire. He then got the hell out. They were lucky in that the fire did not reach their property. My aunt was close to another smaller fire that was on the other side of the hill to where she lives but thankfully it was able to be contained.
