Paradise Resort

I have the bunkhouse rooms on hold for the end of January and wondered if anyone knew any more about this resort.
The only reservation I have is the lack of cooking facilities but, as DH says, am I really going to cook in 30 degree heat after a day at Sea World?? Methinks he's probably right.

Any other suggestions welcome

Bumping for you.

Piffle · 16/11/2008 15:21

I was recently in Brisbane and we stayed on north stradbroke island
Utterly fabulous
Don't cook food is cheap with English money I found

eidsvold · 17/11/2008 09:43

never heard of it sorry. It looks good though. I always figure with a beach holiday you spend so much time outdoors as long as it is comfortable and cool then you are fine. We rarely eat in when on holiday. there would be lots of little cafes etc that would be reasonable for meals.

eidsvold · 17/11/2008 09:43

not really taken with surfers paradise - we prefer further down the coast - kirra coolangatta that way.

AussieLou · 17/11/2008 10:00

Its the old Mecure. I have never stayed there sorry.
I wouldn't cook either. Get a bbq chicken from woolworths (its a supermarket in Oz) or coles and a packet salad and eat on the beach etc...
I am not a fan of the Gold Coast but for nice beaches, I agree with eidsvold. Kirra, Nobby and Greenmount and the most child friendly.
Days out: Sea World, Dream World, Currimbin Sanctuary all on the GC. Go to Mt Tamborine for a bush walk and explore natural arch, crystal creek etc. Head to Brisbane for the Science Centre, Museum, Southbank and ride a city cat down the river at night. Head to the Botanic Gardens for a picnic. Sunshine Coast for Noosa, Australia Zoo, lots of little towns full or arty crafty things.
Will you be there for Australia Day (Jan 26)? Lots and lots of things to do such as the parade in the city.
Here is link for whats on.
Have fun!

Hi, apologies for hijack. We will have 24 hours in Brisbane mid April. Have looked at the site and what would you do with just 24hours. We'd have spent nearly 3 weeks between Surfers and Noosa so something different. No accomodation booked yet so can book near where we will be going out. D's will be 9 and 4. Cheers and apologies for hijack

Sibble - for 24hours I would head to stay overnight in the city somewhere like rydg4es southbank - southbank is cool - have museum, art gallery, sciencentre, then take a ride up or down the river on the city cat, play in botanical gardens walk along southbank and over goodwill bridge to gardens - great cafe.

Sibble · 18/11/2008 01:10

thanks eidsvold, sounds right up our street.

eidsvold · 18/11/2008 02:54

oh and go to the rydges website and sign up for priority membership - you will get rates a little cheaper and often special perks. Costs nothing to join.

There are plenty within the walk of the CBD - friends stayed at the Travelodge in roma street - walk to southbank and CBD - carlton crest is another, hilton and what used to be Lennons - can't remember that one's name. There are a lot of them in the CBD. You could do a search.

eidsvold · 18/11/2008 02:55

you can also hire bikes in the city botanical garden for a ride along the river front - there are also Kangaroo point cliffs - watch he guys rock climb or abseil etc.

Oooh, thought this thread had died a death!
Thanks for your replies everyone. We live in Melbourne and just wanted to dash up to the Gold Coast during the summer hols, but it's cheaper at the end of Jan, naturally.

Cheers all - will go back and re-read your comments now!
