frannikin · 14/10/2008 12:51

I'm an English nanny/governess living and working in the 7th arr available for evening (after about 8pm but depends where you're based) babysitting and weekend daytime or evening babysitting.

CACHE and MNT qualified
First Aid
British CRB (although now getting a little old...)
8 years experience with children from age 2 weeks to 14 years - nannying, maternity nannying, babysitting, Guides, Brownies, Rainbows, holiday clubs, playschemes, student placement as nursery nurse etc
Excellent checkable refs - only current employer in France though, the others are UK based

I do speak French - vital for dealing with emergency services should the need arise! Will also iron for extra money

for mners only? why's that then?

Anna8888 · 14/10/2008 12:54

What's your rate?

BriocheDoree · 14/10/2008 14:16

How far out are you prepared to travel...?

frannikin · 15/10/2008 12:29

MNers only because you're not likely to be creepy weirdos like some people who've contacted me previously via internet sites! I lost count of the number of strange requests from my old Gumtree postings. There are a bunch of agencies but the hassle of registering tends to put me off. MNers have children and are likely to need babysitters, I am a babysitter. I live in Paris, so do some MNers....I spy the potential for mutually beneficial arrangements.

Rates 6 EUR/hour plus taxi/lift/metro fare back, until I get my scooter! Then it'll just be 6 EUR/hour.

Travelling out depends on the length of the sit and time - weekends I'll do anywhere I can reasonably get to on the Metro or RER providing I can either a) get home to the 7th or b) get to Le Vesinet or c) have a bed for the night. I also have the possibility of a car on weekends in the Le Vesinet, Neuilly, St Germain area.

I will do shared sits if you're going to a MN meetup and your children know each other well enough to spend the night at one or another's house.

Well, I'd definitely be interested because DD's French isn't up to leaving her with a non-English-speaking sitter, and I'm on the train line from Saint Lazare but v. close to Le Vesinet and Saint German en Laye...

Anna8888 · 15/10/2008 16:43

Crikey, I'm not going to pay you 6 euros an hour for babysitting my DD - she's far too lively for such miserly wages . Maybe for a child asleep in bed... but I was thinking more a long the lines of daytime babysitting/taking her out to the park etc. How much for nannying (really) a very lively little girl?

Anna8888 · 15/10/2008 16:44

I'm in the 17th between place Péreire and Porte de Champerret btw.

pinkypig · 16/10/2008 03:00

Hi, we move to the 7th arr in December so I'll keep this post and contact you for babysits at a later date.

Othersideofthechannel · 16/10/2008 05:47

Agree with Anna that you could probably charge more. At least if the rates round here are anything to go by.

Perhaps the market is flooded with babysitters in Paris?

teafortwo · 16/10/2008 08:32

Mmmm... sounds interesting! Thanks Frannikin!

So...

How do we contact you? If and when mners need a babysitter?

And are the times you stated absolutely the only times you can do?

frannikin · 16/10/2008 12:51

If you want to pay me more feel free! Rates quoted are evening babysits, the type where your children are hopefully asleep and I watch awful French TV, nothing happens but you can enjoy your evening peacefully - nannying I currently get 10/hour net.

Market's not saturated but I don't need to babysit like I did through uni so I'm only doing this for a bit of extra cash/out of the goodness of my heart. I realise it only works out to about 4 GBP/hour, which is half what I used to charge in the UK, but I'm feeling nice. Plus I have awful memories of being left with babysitters who didn't speak brilliant English and I didn't speak brilliant Italian when I was little and we lived in Italy...wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Times stated are all I can do I'm afraid. I work Mon-Fri 7.45am til 7.15pm(ish) but even though my charge is at school some of the time I still need to be with striking distance in case something happens.

I can be contacted via e-mail frances norris at gmail dot com.

10 euros per hours sounds more like it

My OH is away on an excercise the first weekend in December so I am free to babysit!

Also: updated availability I finish early on a Friday once a fortnight (5pm) so would be available from earlier in the evening HOWEVER I would need to know in advance (more than a week) so I can double and then triple check that I am finishing earlier and my OH has his house-keys with him for when he arrives at 22.30 on a Friday evening after a month away and I'm not in like the other week!

Finally: BriocheDoree I know you e-mailed me a while ago about meeting up but I foolishly deleted it - could you get in touch again?

Hi Frannikin,

We have now moved to 7eme and we are interested in your bbsitting services. Can you please contact me on stephaniejdoyle at gmail dot com

Thanks

Steph

MomOrMum · 10/09/2010 13:37

This is now very out of date, but are you by chance still available for babysitting in Paris? We are visiting for two nights (Thurs Oct 7 and Friday Oct 8) and would love to be able to go out both nights if possible. Our DS is 21 months and will be asleep!

iskra · 14/09/2010 11:26

Wish I'd seen this before! (If you're still available). We just went to Rock en Seine, took shifts staying with DD, a babysitter would have been fab...

BriocheDoree · 14/09/2010 12:43

Just in case Frannikin doesn't see this, she has moved somewhere outre mer and isn't currently in Paris.

frakkinnakkered · 15/09/2010 18:40

Thanks for replying Brioche - must have missed this thread when I went round!

I have indeed run away outre mer but know a couple of people who might be willing to babysit in Paris, including my successor who I can vouch for 100%, but who works pretty much the same hours I did, lives in the 7th and might not be able to do the Thursday.

CAT me (or I can CAT you) if you're interested in me trying any of my contacts.

DoubleDegreeStudent · 13/11/2010 11:29

Sorry to hijack - I am a student in Paris available for babysitting (around university). PM me for more information - I am CRB checked and have worked in a summer camp for 4 - 12 year olds.

YoungParent · 24/11/2010 09:52

Hi DoubleDegreeStudent - we plan a visit in Paris Dec 10-12 and would like to have an evening out on Saturday (Dec 11). Are you interested? Do you happen to speak Dutch? (kids are 3 and 5)

DoubleDegreeStudent · 28/11/2010 19:59

I'm really sorry, I have my final exam on Saturday evening so I won't be free. No Dutch either I'm afraid.
