.... how big the spiders are getting in England these days ...

To misquote the great Crocodile Dundee:

"That's not a spider. This is a spider!"

Photos on my profile if you dare.

oh he sounds lovely and lucky to be with you (I am always very unsure about captive birds too and would be far too worried I wouldn't look after one properly - lots of work as you say - but so fab)
I used to babysit for someone who had a green parrot, it used to sit on the baby grand piano and 'sing' along as you played - great fun.

we are getting a cat soon - tahk GOODNESS - am putting it off though as I know visitng the rescue centre is going to be a bit of an ordeal and we are in danger of going home with about 25 of them and becoming social pariahs (well, even more so than we are already)

Oooh. I can't go to rescue places.

There's a big pet store near us that we go to for parrot toys and last time we went there was a row of sad looking dogs in cages outside.

They were all rescued from death row but still had no owner and were there for people to walk as they spent all their time in cages.

I cried all over the volunteers really embarrassingly . Snivelled all the way through the store and then cried all over again on the way out. They must have thought I was mad.

I cried again when I read their magazine. Poor little things.

We have 4 cats too. I hope the rescue centre isn't too traumatic for you. I just refuse to go to them now, I can't handle it.

It's me. The SHAME.

arfishy · 05/10/2008 05:58

And at the cobra. At least you can bring down a huntsman with mortein.

snakes - omg - now that is something I really do not do - cold sweat, feel faint etc. No idea why - just do.

Anyway - out at local markets - dd2 says - oh look mummy a snake!! turn to see snake being watched by owner and stroked by others while it winds its way around a tree brank/trunk.

Cue more dd2 - mummy let's go and look at the snake etc. I take two steps closer and say that is as far as I go. Dd2 was most disgusted so i told her dh would bring her out next week and she could go right up to said snake.

Don't joke spinspin ... I am currently working on modifying this as my Women Against Nasty Kritters Services uniform.

Having spend an hour in the early hours one morning chasing a massive huntsman from our bedroom through to the loungeroom before dh got it, I sympathise After 11yrs in the UK it was one of the few reasons I didn't want to leave, no nasty creepy crawlies, unlike Queensland........
dh and the dd's (who love Bindi) want to get a pet snake, I've said we don't have room but don't know for how long that excuse will hold up
