holidays during term time in German primary schools?

Hey there, anyone know if we're allowed to take ds out of his first year at primary for the month of Dec (school hols start on the 22nd here)? Dp has a job interview in NZ and we'd love him to see where he might move to... Thanks for any help. Want to go to them prepared: the teacher scares the bejesus out of me

On reading the reason you want to take him out - I wouldn't really ask them, I'd tell them you have to! It's far too important to miss, you all have to check it out if you want to move there. You could, if you want to, write a short note and a copy of the invitation to the interview as proof. Don't go through the teacher - just post it in the school letter box addressed to the headmaster/misstress.

I agree with Admylin, it is a very important move for the whole family.

Good luck to your DH for the interview. Must be nervewracking for you all, a big move like that.
