LOL no i mean maltesers!!!!!!

UnderRated · 25/07/2008 00:08

Mmmmm, little brown things. Yum.

Reminds me of DS's incident this afternoon:

DS yelled, "Mummy, I need to do a poo!" and ran to the bathroom and shut the door, which immediately made me a bit suspicious - he never closes the door. I gave him a couple of minutes, then went in. He was standing right behind the door so I couldn't open it properly but was able to peek round to see him standing with his pants round his ankles and a poo on the floor. When I said, "Why is there poo on the floor?" he told me, "I was being an animal." Then smiled very sweetly. I closed the door, laughed quite a lot, then composed myself before embarking on a discussion about who poos where (boys only poo in toilets). It was less amusing when I realised I couldn't open the door without squishing the offending pile. Grrrr to people who bought us books about animals and poo.

hahahahahahhahahaha......

My two have yet to even try to poo anywhere other than their naptime diaper. They're just not interested. Pee's on the other hand are every hour on the hour on the Big Potty so they can do the flush LOL. Bless toddlers eh.

UnderRated · 25/07/2008 00:51

oh yes, flushing is very exciting. If DS suspected I was going to do a wee, he'd hurtle in and almost knock me off the toilet so he could flush it before I had the chance

I'm assuming by pudding you mean the American definition, since the British one is far too sweeping. Yes, I have. I am doing everything I can to avoid processed food, so you can count me as a not quite marshmallow nutter. That, and the stuff that comes in a box doesn't qualify.

Am very about DS' poo, even if it was on the ground. We are nowhere near that yet, and we have some giant bribes that aren't working.

So in case you are looking for recipes, here are my faves. David Lebovitz has an amazing butterscotch pudding if you are down with that. Even DH loves that one.
Dorie Greenspan has a really good chocolate one. (Both of these people seem to have a cult following in the blog world, and from what I've tasted, I can totally see why.
Cooking Light has a vanilla bean pudding and aginger pudding I'd like to try. I've tried the vanilla one, but haven't got to the ginger one yet.

If you weren't looking for recipes, which is highly likely, then sorry. I'm a recipe junkie. If you have any good ones that are in American, let me know.

I don't follow recipes, I just throw stuff in til it looks/tastes right!!! Have had a few interesting results but for the most part everyone has loved my various concoctions!

UnderRated · 25/07/2008 01:12

Yes, Dooney, your standard American Pudding. I was totally looking for recipes. I was going to look on Martha Stewart but after The Incident, I am not a big fan of hers. WTF do I do with spare gelatin?

No idea how DS became potty trained - he sort of did it himself. A few weeks of accidents but then he got it. I think it worked better when I stopped pushing him. He's like me and prefers to do something because he wants to not because someone else is making him.

Off to look at blogs now

That's a good way to cook, Mananny. I do that for real food but not if baking something new. Converting recipes is always a pain. My pyrex jug was imported.

OMG that butterscotch pudding looks heavenly

This is my favorite place to search for recipes

Stop Dooney, Stoppp! I had Things to Do tonight...

Okay all you expats, check out here about the pronunciation of Nutella and find out what the one country is on Earth is that pronounces it different from the rest. (Hint: It isn't the U. S.)

UnderRated · 26/07/2008 04:36

I saw that. And kept quiet. If it had supported my argument, I'd have linked to it

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 26/07/2008 04:51

You let me suffer all this time and kept quiet. Just think if DH weren't working late tonight and I hadn't been bored of how many more angst-filled days I would have had.

UnderRated · 26/07/2008 05:01

I know, I'm a total bitch. I'm sorry

Does this help?

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 26/07/2008 05:13

Actually, I'm ok, because when I Googled "how to pronounce Nutella" oddly enough this site came up in the first few entries, and I've been swimmingly happy reading through it. I might even have to give up MN to catch up with all the wonderfulness this place has to offer.

(See, this is what happens when NICE people see that other people are worried about something and they know they can help with it, they don't withhold information. Although sharing a freakishly delicious recipe one has found is never a bad thing. Even if it doesn't have New-tell-uh in it.)

alipiggie · 26/07/2008 05:15

Ha - I feel justified that my pronunciation was okay . It's all in the emphasis isn't it. lol.

UnderRated · 26/07/2008 05:17

Yummy

I would love to know how the purse forum came up in a search on how to pronounce Nootella. No, I just can't do it. I'm sorry. I have to stick to my British mispronounciation - Nut-Ella. How odd.

Did you make the cheese yet? Was it marscapone? I've found a recipe for Ricotta which looks easy. But so did the marshmallow recipe...

OP posts:
alipiggie · 26/07/2008 05:18

Have you made ice cream using cream, sugar, flavoring and rock salt?? Great party trick.

UnderRated · 26/07/2008 05:21

I can't believe you googled it, actually. I'm sorry you were so traumatised.

Hi Ali

You've injured her for life - with this NUT Tella scenario. NU Tella it is.

dooneygirl · 26/07/2008 05:32

Some things in life, I just obsess over, UR. I have a hard time turning my brain off and letting it go.

Haven't done the cheese thing yet. I can't believe how busy we've been lately. The only time I've had to do anything is after they go to bed, and I don't do anything householdy unless it is an absolute emergency. Berry season is always super-busy as we're picking every day possible, and then we've had a bunch of friends over for dinner lately, and I always have to make a way-too-big production out of it. I promise I shall make it later, though. There are several recipes with marscapone I want to try.

The ricotta SHOULD be easy, but I still need to go to that stupid wine shop, and it is open less and less hours every week, it seems like.

In-laws did that a couple years ago, Ali. I was amazed, I'd never, ever seen anything close to ice cream made before. I got my own ice cream maker last year. I belong to survey sites, and some give you money and others let you choose from merchandise, and I'd had my eye on one for a long time. DH keeps asking where the rock salt is, and it is like he doesn't understand that this one doesn't use any.
