I just finished the old thread by accident

OP posts:

For some reason, 'click on any Califrau' made me laugh! Fabulous pumpkins

My mum won't be here next week [sob] so Dinner and I shall enjoy [hopeful] the election from the comfort of our apartment. I think all the tickets for the rally have gone now anyway. They were apparently being sold on ebay for $200 each.

Dodgy, where you live sounds lovely. When my car was broken into, the police laughed and said I was lucky it hadn't happened before. Your DD's face is fabulous - totally worth every cent you spent, I think!

AtheneNoctua · 31/10/2008 15:14

Thanks, superbunny. Wasn't really sure if I qualified since I'm American but living in UK, rather than the other way around. I see you live in Chicago? I'm a Chicago (suburban) girl myself.

jabberwocky · 01/11/2008 01:22

dodgeykeeper, that photo is priceless! (Or maybe the price of an AG doll, lol)

Almost makes me pine for a little girl. Wonder what can make a little boy light up like that

SuperBunny · 01/11/2008 02:08

Everyone is welcome here, Athene Do you miss the US? I stay in the city most of the time but know some of the suburbs (mainly the 2 with Ikeas )

We went Trick or Treating tonight and everything was very political. Everyone out in Obama shirts and masks and several houses with tombstones in the garden saying:

GOP

RIP

Bad photos on pumpkins on profile

dooneygirl · 01/11/2008 02:31

It is like Grand Central Station out there. We've been home from Trick or Treating not too long, and I'm going to have to shut down soon due to running out of candy. The kids had loads of fun, Caitlin didn't get freaked out this year, and they're having loads of fun handing out candy. I will say, EVERYONE is incredibly polite, especially the teenagers, and the teenage girls LOVE Colin.

LittleMissTickles · 01/11/2008 04:00

Can I ask for some advice please?

We are moving back to London (from Texas) in December, and I am looking for a dresser like the Pottery Barn ones for my daughters to share there. Not too big. The ones they have here will fill the whole room there! Any suggestions?

Thank you, and sorry for the hijack.

SuperBunny · 02/11/2008 03:15

Well, who wouldn't love Colin?!

No idea LMT, sorry.

What shall I do with a fridge full of raw pumpkin pulp?

dooneygirl · 02/11/2008 03:38

Here's 55 recipes. Maybe one of them works? I'm sick of cooking right now, myself.

No idea, LMT.

dooneygirl · 02/11/2008 03:47

I forgot pictures of my cake lollipops. They weren't that amazing to look at, anyway. They weren't awful, but nothing to write home about looks-wise. And very so-so tastewise, but what do you expect from cake from a box and frosting from a tub?

SuperBunny · 02/11/2008 04:04

Thanks DOoney. Having looked at those links, I think I will either puree it or make it into rissotto. The 'chunky cat barf' doesn't sound very appealing.

I'm a bit fed up of cooking too.

Two days to go...

SuperBunny · 02/11/2008 04:05

BTW, I'm impressed taht you made the cake pops at all. Far too fiddly and labour intesnive for me.

dooneygirl · 02/11/2008 04:14

I didn't even see the chunky cat barf. I stumbled on it the other day, and haven't had time to properly look at it. Oh, well. At least I got a good laugh.

They were a bid fiddly, but have been cooking so much, it was pretty much I might as well, as I wouldn't really notice.

DH bought me my Christmas present today. I've been harping on him for a yogurt maker, but I've gotten enough Amazon gift codes from a survey site to make the one I want about $5, so he went and bought me an enameled cast-iron pan that I was looking at. It was on sale, and I had coupons to the mother-ship (Macy's) that made it almost 1/3 of the original price. I'm very happy with it.

SuperBunny · 02/11/2008 04:34

Ooo Dooney, how fabulous

Don't think I didn't notice that NO-ONE came on today to remind me to CHANGE THE CLOCKS It's a good thing Ali thought to tell me

jabberwocky · 02/11/2008 14:05

I want a yogurt maker

Is the pan a Le Creuset? I love those.

dooneygirl · 02/11/2008 15:41

They're really cheap on Amazon, Jabber.

No, it isn't Le Creuset. I'd be totally gaga if it were. It is Martha Stewart, but it has really awesome reviews, and I'm much more impressed than I thought with it. I saw a Le Creuset one the same size at Costco for $200, and I got mine that was originally $100 for $35.

We decided to have frugal, minimalist Christmas because last year I we really went over the top.

Earlybird · 02/11/2008 15:57

Thanks to all for your American Girl doll anecdotes - have been offline for a few days so have only just seen your thoughts. The dolls are so darned expensive, and then the blinkin' accessories.....I'm just not convinced that dd's interest wouldn't wane in a a week! DD is definitely in the phase of 'gotta have it' and then moves quickly on to the next thing.

Dodgykeeper the look of sheer delight on your dd's face is priceless!

In spite of gorgeous fall weather today, I think I am destined to make a trip to the movie theatre this afternoon to see "High School Musical 3". Are you all envious??

SuperBunny · 02/11/2008 17:30

Enjoy, Earlybird!

SuperBunny · 03/11/2008 01:49

Anyone doing anything for Guy Fawkes night? I want to do something but don't have any sparklers so am at a loss.

lol

We have glowsticks so we'll do that then. Not quite the same but almost as good! I always feel homesick on Nov 5th.

jabberwocky · 03/11/2008 02:38

How about watching V for Vendetta ?

dooneygirl · 03/11/2008 02:44

Ooh, MIL sent a big pack of glowsticks for the kids. Can I glowstick in celebration with you guys, you know just as kind of a moral support thing?

SuperBunny · 03/11/2008 02:54

Yes, yes, you must join us Dooney. Much 'Ooo'ing and 'Aaah' ing required though.

I've never seen V for Vendetta. I am quite scared of clowns and people in face paints though and the trailer scared me. Am I being a big wuss?

No, SB, you're not. I'm not afraid of them, but I've never liked them. No offense to your brother, Cali. I was quite offended when we went to Cirque du Soleil and there were clowns there. I was just glad we hadn't paid for our tickets.
