I just finished the old thread by accident

I've yet to inform Colin of that fact, because I'm not sure if we'll have the time to do everything they want to already.

CONGRATULATIONS

Ceelo · 05/09/2008 06:50

Thanks SuperBunny!

AnnieLaurie · 05/09/2008 08:14

oooh you're all on different time zones, I was in bed snoring when you responded!

Slightly worried by the suggestion will need own supply of crisps and choc in the US...?!?

Am HORRIFIED from my other thread to be told there is no gas and air in the states either (2nd baby due in Jan so will be a SEattle baby)

anorak · 05/09/2008 13:31

Yes AnnieLaurie, that's why we chat together, cos we're the only ones awake when it's 2am in the UK. We don't actually like each other or anything like that

Please tell us some more about yourself - you too Ceelo,

AnnieLaurie · 05/09/2008 16:01

Well, Anorak...

I am a SAHM with a 26 month old DS who I have just started mentioning to the fact that we are going go Seattle 'for a big adventure'. He looks at me most suspiciously as I cheerfully chat about exciting 9 hour flights...

Moving with DH work. I am gutted to be leaving Edinburgh as we only moved up here (home for me!) from London a year and a half ago.

Everyone who has moved to Seattle has apparently stayed, but think we will be the exception to the rule. I have told DH 2 years top - he keeps changing it to 3.

Should be moving early Oct, if visas come through, so savouring these last blissful days in my home City.

So, are there hundreds of US Mumsnetters or is it a hardcore few?

Thanks for kind words. Operation seems to have worked and am doing my best to take it easy (as much as you can with 2 toddlers).

Everyone seems to be busy with start of school. We have decided dd is going to start school here so have some last minute things to buy. Hope she's not too disappointed not to be going to school when we arrive in US!

Hi AnnieLaurie we were supposed to be moving in Oct and are also expecting a baby in Jan!

Complications with baby mean I might let dh move 1st and wait for baby to arrive before me and dcs join him.

We'll be in Iowa but I have heard brilliant things about Seattle.

There is lots to think about and organise isn't there?!

SuperBunny · 05/09/2008 18:14

Oh, we're hardcore, AnnieLaurie. Am sure Seattle will be lovely. Am not sure about moving just in time for winter though. It might be a bit of a shock. Chocolate is a must. Everyone will back me up on this. Crisps are optional. I like people to bring me Hula Hoops but Lays suffice in times of need.

Take good Care Bunkups. It must be nigh on impossible to take it easy with toddlers around.

Can I boast about my homegrown organic grapes? Black. And Green. Yum. They're homegrown. Tasty.

If you drink Earl Grey, you need to bring it with you.

And biscuits - bourbons, digestives, chocolate digestives, foxes with creamy gunk in the middle, Caramel Wafers, custard creams

Ceelo · 05/09/2008 19:38

Hey Claifrau...i see that you live in Milpitas...you are right we are really close!
ok i am 33 and before i had this lovely baby boy i was a photography/art teacher at a high school. my DH is American and I've lived in the US for 6 years. i too get marmite shipped out here although i am quite happy with American chocolate i do miss proper crisp flvours like roast chicken, worcester sauce, prawn cocktail etc. i have managed to marry a proper english football fan, so despite the fact he is 100% american...i am still subjected to Match of the Day downloaded from the internet...how did that happen? my mum leaves next week....who is going to burp this baby? i am rubbish at it.

My long time ago, childless, divorced, 6 year younger friend called to invite me to a concert tonight. I'm excited to get out of the house, but am worried I will stick out as a 35 year old SAHM of 2. DH said it is a Black Crowes concert, so not to worry, as everyone else there is probably old, and this is a better one to go to than the Snow Patrol one she invited me to a bit ago, but I couldn't make it. I told him I'm just worried about people thinking I'm pathetic, because I'm so excited to get out of the house without them.

SuperBunny · 06/09/2008 01:24

Don't be silly Dooney, you have every right to be excited about going out. Without children. Lucky you. Hope you have fun.

Cali... I've been playing my cello. My arms and fingers hurt. I did Nimrod and Largo from the New World Symphony. Strings are hard to play. Why do they always look so easy?

Might go to another outdoor concert tomorrow night. Andrew Davies is conducting. He is the brother of my first ever teacher and family friend so I really should have seen him before.

Anyone feel the Alamo 4.0 quake in the bay area tonight (friday pst). DP felt it, I was getting off the bed after feeding DD and felt nothing.

DP said it was a quick jolt, we are downtown in SF on the waterfront.

Actually it was his 6th. He travels a lot and works here every month, we all have been out on an extended stay, so techncially it was my 2nd, but I guess I am not used to the sensation like him.

He has had 4 in the bay area in the last 10 years, ranging from 3.2 to 4.0, but all noticeable, but in Japan where he has also worked he has been in a 5 and 6.0, and the 6.0 was pretty huge.

babyOcho · 06/09/2008 07:19

He was here for your 5.6 but it was only a 3.2 when it got to SF. He remember it well!

jabberwocky · 06/09/2008 15:14

Back online after getting electricity on again last night. We'd been without since Tuesday when the remnants of Gustav came roaring up our way. One night without water as well.

Annielaurie, you will LOVE Seattle! I've been there once and keep up a WA license in case I ever get the chance to go back

Am hopelessly behind on the thread but hope everyone is well!

SuperBunny · 06/09/2008 15:50

Oh Jabber, how are you? Did Gustav do much damage? I wondered if anyone on here would be effected.
