Whether you're considering emigrating or an expat abroad, you'll find likeminds on this forum.

If you were to emigrate for a better life, schools, bringing up family etc where would it be?

Just out of interest is anyone else starting to think that the UK isn't the greatest place to bring up children and thinking of moving abroad. If so what places spring to mind? And why? Has anyone already moved and regreted it? Or loving it?

I'm in Germany. It's fantastic for our DS1 (and DS2 who was delivered here). We chose to live near the country in a small town, for the children. It's safe, clean, friendly, stunning to look at and our lives have improved 100% from living in inner Bristol a year ago. The healthy lifestyle here also mens that we've all changed, and can be found swimming, cycling, running almost every day. Unheard of before...

Ooh I so agree shells and claudiaschiffer (and someone else but I can't remember who!) We lived in NZ for 4 years, loved the lifestyle, still talk loads about it and would quite like to go back. But it is so insular, we really missed things like architecture which we never even noticed here, and couldn't beleive how little people knew about the rest of the world. Ultimaley what decided us was that we were so far away from our parents and when DS1 was born with a disability we decided to move home again. Luckily he has an NZ passport so if we decide to go back they can't refuse him

Hey,
Living in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia at the moment and loving it. It's the most child-friendly place I have ever been in. Very clean, western enough to be able to get what you need and build up a social circle and the schools are really good and quite cheap. Oh, and the weather is fantastic!
