DH and I are giving serious thought to moving overseas and are considering australia. DP is an engineer - not educated to degree level but 20 years on the tools and is competent at both electrical and mechanical engineering. I have a degree and I am a social housing manager with a lot of legal experience. Is that the sort of stuff that might get us enough points to get us in? We have one dd and another on the way. we wouldn't want to move until 2nd one born and I am in a position to get back into the job market. We're just starting to think about this and haven't done any research on the logistics, so any advice gratfully received! thanks x

You should ring Australia House in London. They are very friendly and will probably send you info.
In general manual jobs are sought after; also medical. Engineering sounds promising though.

Where abouts were you thinking of ?

You can do an immigration assessment on-line to calculate whether you have sufficient points for visa [[http://www.visabureau.com/australia/default.aspx?s_cid=20125854 blue button top right]

if you go to the aus immigration web site they have all the stuff about points for perm res on there. or go to one of the expos. not sure when the next one is one? google expo australia and they wil show all the dates? temp res means you dont need the points.

Chloeb2002 beat me to it. The site is here - www.immi.gov.au/
