Young family - Dubai opportunity, yes or no?!

Hi everyone, my first post here so I appreciate your thoughts in advance.

Context
I am a mid 30s male, living with my soon to be wife (similar age) our young baby and small poodle. My partner is on maternity leave and due to return to work in the new year.

We rent a 3 bed house in an expensive part of London, I work in tech consulting and partner is a lawyer. We earn well between us, but with rent, nursery fees on the horizon and no family close by, we will struggle to save up and buy a house and pay to live comfortably.

Opportunity / Question
Given my partner qualified in a popular area of law 3 years ago, she is constantly getting messages and offers from recruiters. We’ve always thought we’d consider moving abroad for a few years if the opportunity arose, to bank some money and return 3 years later.

Shes had a message about a Dubai based role, we don’t know the salary but I’d expect it would be a little more than she’s on now and of course, tax free.

I work for a Global organisation and work Internationally, so expect I’d stay with the same company and same salary - obviously with the tax benefit.

Our question is mainly around the initial set up costs (unless her company paid for it as part of an offer), as well as how it would be for our mini poodle - we either all go or we all stay. He is probably our biggest concern from the move, as I know it’s great for babies, children etc and we’d be able to afford a good lifestyle whilst hopefully saving quite a bit too.

I’d say we’d have a combined monthly income of around 150,000 - 170,000 AED, so wanted to get opinions on the move, whether we’d likely return with enough saved to justify the huge change.

thanks so much in advance!

You might be better off joining one of the Dubai expat groups on Facebook , there’s one for Brits and asking about set up costs etc, pet import and vaccination requirements on there. They’ll have up to date info. You can also Google rentals and see how much they are in diff parts of the UAE. I think Abu Dhabi is growing as a place for lawyers too. Good luck!

Packages are not what they once were, will your accommodation, school fees, healthcare, annnual rights home, shipping costs etc be covered? Rent is vey toppy at the moment.
