We are planning to move to the Algarve within the next year with DD who is 13 at the moment. I would be grateful for advice regarding schools there. Not sure where to start but thinking of an international school.

Where in the algarve?

I live in carvoeiro and the nearest international school is Nobel. I know one of the teachers and several past pupils. It seems to have a good reputation

Near Tavira; but is there school buses? Can she go further afield for the right school?

Tavira is too far to go to that Nobel school. I think there is one in Almancil, but that would still be quite a journey.

I don’t know any international schools that side of Faro, sorry

Hi there, yes the Nobel Algarve British International School Almancil do offer quite a lot of bus services. I can try to find out for you or you could contact a very nice lady called Margaret. I know Filipa at the Lagoa school and her email is [email protected]. Are you 100% set on Tavira? I only ask because there is a A LOT going on for teenagers more central Algarve but from what I am aware of, the Eastern Algarve currently attracts a more mature audience. Central Algarve, or Western, has lots of activities and clubs, and social life, for teens....

You’d be better off nearer Lagoa council for the international nobel school.

Thank you; looks like we may have to re-think the location and base ourselves more central

Very jealous! I've been to Monte Gordo earlier this year and it's so lovely there that I said I would want to move there 😃

I understand as we started off by looking at Tavira and I really love it there, and property is cheaper, but definitely more going on for the teens in central Algarve! There is a really nice, helpful lady working in admissions at Nobel Algarve BIS Almancil called Margaret Campbell - if you go to the website, they have a form to fill in to enquire, I am pretty sure! I know Almancil is eventually going to be IB at sixth form but at Lagoa it´s A Levels. Both do GCSE. We have been doing lots of research lately as have family also interested in coming over so don´t hestiate to ask me any more questions! My son LOVES it here! He has also made friends at local state schools through various clubs like tennis, football, rugby etc... hope this helps!

Hi!! We are also considering relocating from England with our two kids. My husband went to Nobel and I’m a teacher. I’d love to connect with anyone currently living near Nobel. We are after a strong community and lots of sports especially a tennis club. I’m nervous making that initial step. We are thinking of going when my son heads in to Y5 for one year to see if we like it. My husband is flying out In September to have a tour but any info on community, school, where to rent or buy would be so helpful!! Thanks 😃

How did your husband go with the school tour? We are in the same position particularly interested in a tennis club also. Let me know!

Hi

Did you decide to make the move? We head out at the end of this month to look at houses and Nobel Lagoa, would appreciate any feed back if you had a look around the school ☺️
