Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post on this topic but could use some good advice from MN-ers. I have a Nepalese friend, currently working as a domestic help and carer for elderly person in Cyprus, who wishes to move to another EU country or even to the UK (I have discouraged her from thinking about the UK as I think the current government makes it very difficult to enter to work, but I may be wrong), to work for a family, individual, or couple.
I have personal experience of her work and she is an excellent all-round worker, good at cleaning/cooking/caring, happy to work with children, honest and kind, speaks good English but no other languages apart from Nepalese languages. If we needed such a worker, we'd employ her ourselves, no question.
Obviously I don't want her to end up in some horrible exploitative situation--but I have no idea how to find a reputable employment agency that she can register with (googling is not much help). I want her to end up with people who will treat her with the same respect and kindness that she shows others. The agency would need to sort out a visa and do the necessary legal steps. I was thinking of some country where English is commonly spoken, like Netherlands, Germany or Scandi countries. Would she have to go to one of those countries on a short visit and join an agency there, or would she do it from Cyprus or from Nepal?
Any pointers to good countries and/or agencies or other types of advice would be much appreciated. Please feel free to DM me or reply here.
