Teenage me would have hated moving away from home but adult me could happily live in many countries as long as they’re warmer than here.

CobraChicken · 07/11/2023 18:16

Southern Ireland, where we spent lots of summers and where the majority of my cousins live/lived.

Spanglybangles · 07/11/2023 19:05

Teenage me, USA. Will have been all that Beverly Hills 90210!! My kids would also say USA. We have family over there so can get our fix anytime. Adult me and my family are moving to Canada which is preferable.

Honestly nowhere. I hated suburban life and I’d have killed to be in central London rather than in an estate that looked the same. But I never wanted to leave the UK. Maybe I’m just unadventurous 😂

FWIWy have returned to my commuter town since having my DC and fully expect them to hate it too in 10 years 😂

AvonCallingBarksdale · 07/11/2023 19:15

Teenage me wouldn’t have wanted to move to another country - I loved holidaying abroad but wouldn’t have wanted to leave my home/friends.
Uni me lived in southern France for a year and LOVED it.
Adult me would love to travel (step up from gap year backpacking) as soon as DC are sorted and DH and I can give up FT work.

Teenage me wanted to live in France.

Late 60's me has now lived in France for nearly two years.

All things come to those who wait!! 😀

knitnerd90 · 08/11/2023 01:28

ooh, either America (where I had relatives - in New York) or France, I think!

I live in the US suburbs now -- I also enjoyed the same books, but they're a bit more dramatic than reality I think? But I do believe divorce peaked in the 1980s.

coxesorangepippin · 08/11/2023 01:29

America or Australia

Greengrass8 · 08/11/2023 08:44

Teenager me wanted to live in Europe and now live in London and do lots of travel to Europe.

Now I want to live somewhere warmer and sunnier in Europe near the sea but may have to wait a few more years until retirement now.

Needmorelego · 08/11/2023 09:56

@Greengrass8 I am curious...."Europe" is a bit vague. Where exactly did you want to live? I mean Paris over looking the Eiffel Tower is very different to a tourist spot in Spain or a council estate in Austria or the mountains of Switzerland.
I don't mean that in mean way.... I am just genuinely curious.

JamSandle · 08/11/2023 09:57

Young me would have been America.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 08/11/2023 10:29

@BeringBlue @magimedi whereabouts in France are you? V envious 😊. I was near Limoges for a year and really loved it.

BeringBlue · 09/11/2023 19:31

@AvonCallingBarksdale in the Bordeaux wine region, just under an hour from the city.
