Do any of you live in South Africa

Just back from visiting old friends who moved out to South Africa last year and it was great...weather, food, sights.
But i could never live there as everyone seems to have a paranoia about security and you can't park your car anywhere in town without it being "looked after".
What keeps you there? is it the lifestyle? if you run a business is it the cheap labour?
Just did my head in, seing Bentleys and Porsches being driven past people walking along the side of the road with no shoes and huge houses next to people who live in sheds (not even well made).
Suppose it all becomes invisible after a while, but no thank you.

My BIL (south african) and SIL (English) moved back to South Africa last year for lifestyle reasons. They live overlooking the beach, can kitesurf/surf/kayak/go diving after work, commuting time is 15 minutes, to go somewhere beautiful for a weekend seems to be max 2 hours drive, often less. Their maid is cheap and reliable...
I can see their point, but contrast it with the lack of an NHS, the security issues (though would be same in most big cities I guess) and the whole "having a badly paid maid " issue. But I am English so these things stand out to me, not to a South African. Beautiful country though

Just noticed the other thread, its just that lots of people here had moved OUT of South Africa in recent years and my friends are both English.
At first they were also bothered by the poverty but they seem to have been brainwashed and just say that the "blacks" are lazy and can't think for themselves.
"coloureds" are better to employ? but its just so racist out there, there has to be big changes for anything to get better.
