Packers come on Tuesday. Stuff everywhere. We're repatting (for now). I seem to have piles of stuff everywhere and am in the middle of a complicated handover at work.

DH is suddenly very attached to loads of rusty baking trays. Come and share the pain!

Moving in September to a smaller house so am busy throwing everything away. Trying to get my partner is get rid of his books is proving very tricky but removal costs are insane as we’re moving to an island. And don’t get me started on transporting our pets… I’m never moving again!

Our packers came today. The four suitcases full of stuff I thought I had put aside to bring by plane has somehow multiplied to about 500kilos that I now have to pay for or dump between now and Wednesday. Packers couldn't take two sofas as they didn't fit, so they also need getting rid of, and I can't face Facebook marketplace as my last interactions in this country. And I have a chest infection and can't breath. Fun!

We ditched rusty baking trays but have shipped cheap and nasty Ikea plant pots which are probably half full of soil and will ruin everything else in the box. You can't win them all!

Ugh I had this last summer. Fortunately I'd been decluttering for 2 years previously. And most importantly DH moved out 3 months before we did so although I half drowned dealing with Dc, my work and packing, at least I could be ruthless without him mithering about it.

Our packers also told us very late on in the day that there was no more space in the container so had to leave an old sofa and various other things. Very stressful.

However, we've been here a year now and don't miss anything we left (except 1 bike). And we're leaving in 2 years and I have already earmarked a lot of things which will NOT be coming back again!

Removal lorry comes in 2 weeks (gulp)

Going back to the UK after 11 years away.

House is semi-organised chaos as we are still doing viewings and we are doing our own packing.

Be very glad when it's all over!

Well we're back in our old house. The tenants have trashed the garden and we keep finding basic maintenance things the agents have ignored. And we have nothing to sit on.

I also haven't had notice our air freight has been dispatched (although I did of course have notice it was over weight and had to pay extra). Gah.

We're moving back to the UK this summer - packers come in about a month. So much to do before then but I seem to be in a state of denial / inertia. @Croissantsandpistachio how are you finding being back, despite the garden being trashed?! We will also have very little furniture when we move back in.

I'm now bogged down in visa/tax hell. Every day I think Brexit - why??? I have no time to get any work that pays the bills done!!
