Can you buy a carseat in the UK that meets Australian saftey standards?

Need to buy a 9kg+ carseat, but may be moving to Aus in the next year or so, so wondering if there are any available here that are legally usable in Aus?
Anyone know?

I think the Phil and Teds car seats are kitemarked for GB NZ, and Aus

hello. i had a similar problem but in reverse a few years ago. the australian car seats have an achor strap on them that clips onto an anchor point somewhere behind it. i had to have our cars all installed with clips in the uk as nne of the seats or cars there have them. You could allways buy a seat online from australia and have an achor point put in the car but i dont think you will find one on sale that has the anchor strap in the uk? I was told that at some point the anchor system will come into play in the Uk but die to a lack of compliance on the use of infant seats there was resistance to enforce a change that meant cars needed to have fittings installed on top of a car seat!

as chloe said - out seats need to be anchored into the car. I would wait until you got here and bought one - they can be picked up relatively cheaply - whilst still being good seats. We just got a simple britax one for dd1 ( we were in the same boat) and then when we got to Aus used that one for a little while until we got her a new one.

Places like Big W and KMart and Target sell car seats - often having sales and so can pick a good seat up for a good price.

Thanks everyone. Am a bit annoyed that my Isofix system isn't even legal (it is fixed to the body of the car) but hey ho.
I guess I'll just have to double up, or hope DS doesn't grow over the next 12 months

Hi

Have same problem as you. We have two isofix car seats for both children. We sent an e-mail to Western Australia Road safe people to see if we could use them in Oz as they do have the top tether anchor system and they have said that they will not be legal. Only car seats with an Australian Standard number are legal.

Am also pretty annoyed!
