Moving to Nova Scotia - Advice please!

We are seriously considering moving to NS. DH is a family doctor and been offered a great package there. I can also get work easily in any largest town and will start my business again over there. Any advice as to towns / villages that would suit us? Has anyone made the move?
We have visited a couple of times but not since 2019.
We want to be within 60 / 90 mins of Halifax.
Ideally close to the sea.
Needs to have a community so that we can meet people and put down roots.
Our youngest DC will be going into sixth form so close to good 16+ education too.
Thank you

one of my employees lives in digby and loves it!!! she is actually being picked up here at the airport on friday to fill in for me for 10 days. She used to come 6 months a year here...pre covid we are hoping that finally resumes next year. She loves digby

I’ve only visited. Lovely part of the world.

With school age children perhaps try New Glasgow or Digby.

Can I ask what is so good about Digby? Family friendly etc?

Is the whole of Nova Scotia good for families in general?

Parker231 · 21/01/2023 07:53

Digby is getting a good reputation as a nice place to live but it is very small so limited opportunities. Where will you be working?

DH and I are GP's and have been offered a great package by a NS recruitment drive. We have the option of a few towns. We have visited before and I loved the area to the west of Halifax, St Margarets Bay / Mahone Bay but wanted to gauge opinions. Thank you.

Hi OP,

I have some experience of living in NS (albeit temporarily) my DH was also working there was a medic. Feel free to message me on here if you want to discuss further. It's a beautiful place and there are direct flights to the UK in the summer months which are surprisingly short (5/6 hours)

newblueday · 23/01/2023 03:18

I lived in NS for 8 years feel free to PM me. Like anything there are pros and cons.
