Withdrawing money from cash point in Spain ( British bank ) card

Isn’t a living abroad question, hope that’s ok- I thought maybe someone could answer this. I’m on holiday in Spain and the cashpoint asks” do you want to proceed with currency conversion , or without “. This is puzzling me. I have a Halifax clarity card which should give me a good rate but I’m not sure which option to go with here. Thanks for any advice.

Without
Also if asked to pay in £ or E by a card machine go for E

Without take out the euros without conversion it’ll be expensive otherwise.

Why not just pay with the credit card? I have been to Italy and Spain recently and just tapped my card, except for in the market.

Well exactly @mdh2020 . There's always an occasion when you might need cash, markets being one of them!

Thanks guys. I mostly pay by card but it’s useful to have some cash eg in the markets, or to leave tips.
