Any lovely Canadians or ex-pats on Mumsnet in Ottawa? My daughter, son in law and Grandson (12) are moving there in August. Job related. Any thoughts,
specifically, if anyone has any information about schools. My grandson may go to Immaculata but he’s not catholic.

I am from Ottawa originally and still go back every year. It's a lovely city and a great place to be a teenager. The winters are long and hard and will be an eye opener! Summers are hot and extremely humid.

Immaculata always had a good reputation when I lived there but I know nothing about it now. Plenty of non-Catholics use the Catholic schools. They wear uniform, whereas there is no uniform at public schools. Is the preference for Immaculata based on the area? Overall high schools are really much of a muchness, but you will find that the ones in more affluent areas are better regarded. Admission is generally based on catchment.
