Car insurance: 2/3 resident in France, 1/3 in the UK

Hope someone can help.

I have a friend staying with me, she is officially resident in France but spends approx 1/3 of her time in the UK. She's trying to sort out her car insurance, but finding it difficult because she spends more than 90 days in each country.

UK insurance only covers up to 90 days pa in France and French insurance only seems to cover for up to 90 days pa in GB.

Is there such a thing as two-country insurance or does she really have to go to expense of having 2 policies, or getting short-term insurance for when she's in the UK?

I understand Saga Insurance do cover that lasts for more than 90 days.

…but I guess she would have to be resident in UK to use it
