Does anybody know anything about living in this area?

Umm...its about as redneck as you can get in the US. And that is saying something.

If you haven't already listen to Okie from Muskogee by Merle Haggard. Think that will give you a real feel for the place. Unless that's the reason you're thinking of moving there!

I wouldn’t be living there it would be my nearly 18 yr old son who has the opportunity to go to college on a sporting scholarship.

It'd be fine, you're not too far from Tulsa, and 2 hours from Northwest Arkansas which is very culturally diverse and cosmopolitan believe it or not so you can escape for weekends. It's certainly not paradise but it's fine. Flights are cheap from Tulsa to other parts of the US for trips away. If you can ensure you'll have good health insurance then go for it!!

Oh it's your son. Even then, if it's a great opportunity for him, there's far worse places on earth to live .
