Hi mumsnetters
Can anyone enlighten me about selling a house in Australia? Do the estate agents do all the work like in the UK?
Thank you

Pretty much yes.

They will organise for a photographer to come and take all the photos for you. List it online, take out an ad in the paper if you want one, organise open inspections (much more common in Australia than private viewings) the agent will be present at the open inspection and answer any questions for viewers then take calls etc regarding offers and try get the highest offer for you.

Be very aware that estate agents fees are massively higher in Australia than the U.K. they work off a percentage basis. Generally anywhere from 2-4% of the overall sale value. We paid almost $6k for selling a house around the $220k mark
