Hello!
This is a bit niche but does anyone have any useful advice about life in Mahe?
So you need a really amazing expat package to live well?
Are flights home prohibitive?
What’s the international school like?
Is there enough to do for teenagers?
Any answers to any of these questions, or other tips, would be so welcome.

I have links to there. It’s a beautiful place but there’s not a great deal to do. Water sports are good and the beaches are amazing. It’s very hot. Public transport isn’t great. Some of the people I know who live there go abroad to buy clothes. The mountains are treacherous to drive on. Island hopping and barbecues on the beach are fun. It’s generally quite expensive there.

I’m back, and particularly interested in anyone who lives there with older children - just wondering what their weekend /social life looks like?

No I'm not but it's an interesting thread so if quite like to see what others have to say. I'm a nosey cow and gives me something to read on my lunch break later

Haha! Oh well if I end up moving there I’ll write a blog just for you!! I can make it really smug and annoying

I grew up in Seychelles an have family there but haven't been back in 20 years so I suspect things have changed a lot from when I was a child. I went to the French school for primary and had just started at the independent for secondary when we left and moved to the UK. There was nowhere to go for further education after the independent.

Watersports and the beaches are the biggest draw and most of the island's income came from tourism so I expect things are tight now following COVID.

Feel free to PM me if you like but do remember its been a long while since I was there.

Thanks! I’m just trying to imagine life for teenagers- really free and idyllic, or slightly boring if they’re used to a big choice of things to do here in the uk?

Probably really boring unless they're really into watersports/diving etc.

If you use Twitter, @VerandaThought is a teacher on Praslin

Thanks / have done! All very idyllic looking!
Would be so great to hear from someone with older children living there though!
