dd starts prep in jan and needs shoes!

Ok DD starts prep in jan at mount samson.. she cant wait let a lone me, now feeling pregnant at last, evidently dont look pregnant enough have allready had the oh are you really response when a friend pointed it out to someone else. so obviously look like i have eaten too many pies, still have to go on a shoe hunt. it seems the uniform request on shoes is fairly broad, white, black or blue. trainers. ok i thought i can do that! but it seems i cant.
any suggestions about where i may be able to buy good trainers or trainer walking shoes that fit the baove in a size 12? done big w and k mart neither seemed great, dont mind paying ecco prices just want a good pair for growing feet. wish they wore black school shoes then could have got clarks esk ones! any help appreciated.
awaiting foxtel today and DH just announced he wants PR for better tax rebates by the next financial year. god knows how to do that. still must not grumble we are here, all be it cold and wet? hope everyone had a fab crimbo.

what about heading over to Westfield at Strathpine and they have a Target - saw some good trainers there.

They also have a payless shoes and a spendless shoes also - spendless is up near Big W and Payless is down the other end near Aldi.

The other option is a place at the big Chermside shopping centre called Tammy's shoes. I always take the dds there a couple of times a year to get their feet measured and every now and then actually buy them a good pair of shoes - can be expensive. They do school shoes but also trainers. Part way through last year dd1 got new shoe inserts and so needed to get a larger shoe - we managed to get some gorgeous osh kosh trainers on sale and she has worn them at least 5 out of 7 days a week for ages and the shoes are still going strong.

Chermside is a huge shopping centre - fab but huge and they have moved - just check a map as soon as you get inside.

Fwiw - Tammy's seems the place to go and I would probably go sooner rather than later otherwise it will be full of lots of children getting their new school shoes.

Better not complain about the rain we have seen so little of it and they did promise us earlier in the year it would probably be a wet summer. No hail or wild summer storms just yet.

rain rain and more rain. toook dd swimming with her new pal this morning was wetter out of the pool than in it so stayed put for a while longer. My current mission is to find some grazing for a pony for dd. had tears this morning because she is missing her pony we sold in the uk. what with ei not an easy time to buy but cant buy without somewhere to put one. it is just never ending at the moment.
so far so good however even if it is all full throtle. looking at property near esk to buy next year. cheap and some big acreage blocks so room for lots of ponies!
so off shoe hunting thanks for the advice, couldnt find anywhere excepts DJ's or Myers and they are both inflated on the price side.

tammys will have expensive shoes but I have also got some good deals - sale bucket - there as well. Ddq has a pair of oshkosh trainers that she has worn to death and they are still going strong.

chloe - wandering through Westfield at strathpine today - lots of black school shoes - in williams the shoeman, payless/spendless - the one up near BigW - had some nice lynx mary jane style shoes - thinking about those for dd1.

id like to go with black shoes but it seems all the kids wear runners, well the older ones we met on the intro day were, so not sure, dont want her to feel odd one out! I think i saw the same shoes yesterday. dd wants balck tradional style school shoes just dont want to get them then have her change her mind and want runners. ahhhh. stress.
ill take her to chermside and see what she wants. that may be the best bet.

have bought the shoes, went to tammys they were a bit right these fit so thats fine but made the trip brief so that was a plus! Thanks for the advice! next stop school hoorah!

so glad you got some. They are very good there. I always take the girls when I think they are moving out of a size to get them to check them also took them there for their first shoes.

We got black lynx trainers. I figured if she gets some wear out of them - might get a bit longer out of her other ones.

eidsvold my dd had black lynx trainers for year 1 .

Good thing about trainers is that they can wear them every day including sports days. I bought the mary janes one year but still had to buy trainers for pe twice a week.

I figured dd1 will want to run and climb etc in the playground and so mary janes or even lace ups are not for her at this stage. At least the ones I have she can take on and off and will be fine - I hope!

dd got white trainers with velcro. only down side was that i really didnt want velcro, would like her to learn to tie laces, so when winter comes i will buy her home footwear with laces. still she is happy, and has the double bonus of needing to be used as sports shoes too.
