Hello, I am moving to Boston in a few months and was looking for suggestions, also if any of you didn't ship furniture what was your shipping costs, so far I only got a quote for 2,5k for a 3cubic metre pallet which is too steep with all the other costs involved...any advice? Thanks

Join the Boston Brits Facebook group. I'll bet they can help with your question and they're a great group.

Find yourself a good freight forwarder, they can explain your options. Cheapest per cubic metre is a whole container you pack yourself but if you don't have that much many removal companies can arrange international shipping, I think Britannia delivered ours when we moved from the USA to Britain. We managed to share a container with two other families moving from Vancouver to U.K. then the load was split and delivered to our house, the freight forwarder arranged it all but it took longer to accommodate all 3 families

What are you planning on taking? We moved last month and we decided to do it only using suitcases, the shipping costs were astronomical! You might find that adding additional cases to your flight bookings is more affordable

I was planning to take all home equipment - except appliances and furniture, just because I am tired of buying new staff everytime we move but if too expensive might as well just take our clothes and a few important belongings and store the rest with family in EU..

I moved to the west coast so obviously my shipping costs were higher but I used a company that shares containers. I brought a lot of stuff, no furniture or appliances as there us no point but all my clothes, cooking and baking things, 30 crates of books, cushions, rugs, etc and it cost less than a grand.

Hello! Moving to Boston is exciting! Regarding shipping costs, explore freight consolidation options or reach out to different shipping companies for competitive quotes. When I was moving from India, I found  International courier services in Delhi, and they were a great help! Sometimes, local movers also offer part-load services. Additionally, check out local thrift stores and online marketplaces for affordable furniture to complement your new space. Wishing you a smooth move!

Not to the States but other countries, used Crown Relocation and Pickfords international, both were good and nothing broken/damaged

Crown Relocations 'lost' half of our container. How that's possible, I don't know. Make sure you get the insurance if you use them.
