And if you are British with a french partner, were they allowed to come with?
I have seen contradictory info about this do would be interested to hear from others.

I haven't tried - but I have seen on FB tonight someone was turned away by DFDS in Dunkirk (one UK passport, one EU passport) as they are not UK residents and travelling from France for a holiday/family is not allowed. I'm not sure this is strictly legal but....

Just seen another report about Eurotunnel - when checking in with 1 british passport and 3 french ones they were told that others had been denied boarding by PAF. They were waved through without incident though. It's worrying that the rules can be determined randomly like this.

Following with interest- I haven’t got a wink of sleep panicking about this.

I’ve seen reports about dfds turning away British passport holders too - but the embassy clearly says being British is a compelling reason…

Yes very stressful isn't it.
What is dfds and paf?
I am unable to get a clear answer on whether my partner is allowed to come with us. On the list des motifs impérieux, it says he can't but on the attestation de sortie du territoire vers le royaume uni it includes the conjoint / enfant of the ressortissant étranger.
Even border police admitted it was unclear and were unable to tell me either way!

DFDS is the ferry company running out of Dunkirk. PAF - Police a Frontiere I think. Technically if you are british and married you should both be able to travel. Did see some more tales of very unpleasant interactions with border force at Calais today. The thing in the "motif" that I find a bit worrying is that you then have to have a compelling reason to be allowed back! Of course if you have French or EU residence, that should be all you need. It seems they are doing all they can to discourage travel to UK though.

Now a moot point for us anyway. They have cancelled our flight so we are not going :(
