Hello! New member here, my husband (sorry haven’t learned the lingo yet!) has a job offer in Doha and wondering what people think of it for new family - we have a 10 week old baby. Also, we have a dog - is it really possible for a dog to have a comparable life to the UK with walks given the heat? Finally, can someone help with cost of living? We’ve looked at all the comparison websites but it’s really tricky to get a sense - any help would be great!
Thank you!

During normal times, it’s pretty family-friendly. COVID restrictions are disproportionately targeting kids, for whatever reason, but once this is all behind us, it should be better.

There are dog-friendly compounds and areas (mostly with Westerners) but others are not tolerating dogs, so you have to let your agent know you have a dog of course. Very few parks where you can walk a dog, so living near a dog-friendly area is essential!

My sister and cousin have both lived there for a few years and they like it. From the kind of things they say, I gather that cost of living is expensive but they also get paid really well. They've also both had babies recently (6 months - 1 yr) and they've not said anything that makes me think they wish they were back in the UK or anything. One also has a 5 year old and she's always out and about doing fun things. Also they both have private nannies for the babies, and they pay less for them than I pay for nursery in the UK :) (this kind of thing is cheap there..)
